So I know there are a number of posts about this subject, and I've looked through quite a few, but I still have questions/concerns.

First I'm hard pressed to find an "up to date" guide on how to do this. Does anyone know where I can find one? I would really appreciate it. Including how to add games from various formats.

A few other questions and concerns.

-So I saw when you make the switch you can create a new NAND when installing Atmosphere. I also saw that some people decided not to do so and kept their one from SXOS. Why would someone choose one or the other? Is there any benefit to keeping the SXOS one?

-Aside from not natively being able to load XCI files are there any major functionality loses when switching to Atmosphere?

-How will usage change, that is from boot to loading an installed game, how will it differ?

Thanks!

I googled "updated nintendo switch hacking guide". The first two hits are pretty good. I recommend reading through once to see if your questions are answered. Also recommend backup your entire SD card before starting so that you can always go back, in case you mess up.

For using experience, I recommend you to just try it out, then you will really know the difference.
(which i don't think normal users will experience any other than no .xci mounting)

If you want to try it out, use an emunand.
From SXOS, hold vol+ when booting, to load SXOS tools
make emunand files version on SD card, 5GB only
transfer emunand to SD card
turn off Switch and copy the emunand to PC
use EmuTool to swap emunand for SXOS to emummc for Atmosphere (file to file version)
copy emummc to SD card
inject fusee-primary.bin to boot emummc for Atmosphere

There maybe some settings (like .ini files) that I have missed for last line before injecting payload.
But the preparation for emummc is complete, easy and cannot do any harm

These steps can't go wrong in most of the case, which do not make any changes to your system.
But before that, you're still recommended to make a backup.

You can find a link to a guide here.

Some people chose to keep using SX OS as you cannot mount .XCI files with Atmosphere which is the only "loss" if you could even call it that.

Booting games will barely differ although installed .NSP games boot faster and take up less space than .XCI files
