I have never done anything of that sort. Expect it to be game dependent. If you are looking for movement speed that is a different case.
Movement speed can be searched if the game has way for you to change movement speed, you do unknown search and may be able to find it.
Another approached is to hack value around what you found concerning the game character.

i have installed Edizon SE and the Tesla overlay, it downloaded NMH3 cheats but i cannot disable the 1 hit kill cheat? Anyone know what im doing wrong? I tried resetting skill points and more but it wont disable the 1 hit kill at all.

edit: Holding L while booting seems to have fixed it

No I mean down to exactly 6 valid results when searching. The game in question is Wizard of legend
The values are in float. The value is a meter, and the values seem to change between 0 and 24, it is a meter that decays with time so it shows negative values while decaying, I search 0 when it's empty, 24 when it's full and narrow it down to exactly 6 results. NONE of them work to change the value in game, but I searched for a pointer anyway that points to them, found a viable one (restarted switch to be sure) and even the pointer doesn't have an effect in game. But it DOES change naturally in game and reflects it in the value, just not when I change it myself in code

how do you know the value is float 24 when the bar is full when you said none of the search results work?
the old cheat was float 100 when full, why not try that instead

Looks like atmosphere had an update today.
In the change log it did somethings to the cheatvm

A number of improvements were made to the dmnt cheat engine.

• Cheats which take in a memory region operand may now use types "2" or "3" to perform accesses relative to the alias/aslr regions, respectively.
• Support was added for an "else" opcode in the cheat engine, to make writing certain conditional logic more natural.
• Support was added for a cheat orchestrator homebrew (like edizon) to detach from a cheat process/set the master cheat programmatically
