Switch OLED, BoTW Save Editor In Jail (LAWYER EXPLAINS) & more! - Tempcast #47

tempcast-169-logo-png.246523
In this week's episode we finally discuss the new Switch model being announced and the disappointment it brewed in the community, as well as some Assassin's Creed/Ubisoft stuff nobody really cares about. After that, we briefly talk about the new GBAtemp raffle happening soon. Finally, for the most controversial topic by far, Eric "Ericzander" Zander joins us to give his legal take on the situation in Japan, where a young BoTW save editor is in jail for just that - editing saves.

I do vaguely remember a news article from months ago about save editing being criminalised in Japan (unless Mandela Effect's finally kicking in for me), but not about this BotW guy.

As for the other stuff...meh, couldn't care less. Not exactly "news" anymore, the ridiculous lack of hardware upgrades with the OLED or Ubisoft murdering AC with online monetisation...and raffle's just not my thing.

It's been a law since January 2019, so I'm not surprised at all when people are arrested for it. A guy got arrested this year for using a save editor to hack his Pokemon shiny. I don't know what anyone expected.

The anti modding doesn't really has to do with Nintendo, it affect all console over there in Japan.
wonder if modding law affects pc games namely Bethesda who are pro game modding (for PC of course),when that law went into effect Japan literally dropped off my bucket list I rather take risk in the Philippines than get hauled off to jail for a couple of transfered genned mon on my unhacked switch lite :ninja:
