Won't link to the actual thread because I won't give them any clicks, but here's a quote from that leftist propaganda site with cat pictures lying around:

"I am pleased to unveil a new USB patch currently in development that will extend the current 2 TB USB limit all the way up to 16 TB. While 16 TB hasn't actually been tested yet, that is the new theoretical maximum. The patch is being developed with a 4 TB HDD as a test subject and it's working great with it so far. With 3 USB mass storage drives supported on the console, you might be able to add up to 48 TB of external storage now.

This is not a release, and it'll still be a while before that happens. More testing needs to be done to ensure full compatibility with Xbox software, and a special formatting process needs to be created because large USBs like this cannot be formatted on the dashboard or any current PC software.

Small FAQ

Q: How does this work?

A: The Xbox 360 kernel's USB mass storage driver has been "upgraded" to support SCSI commands that work with blocks past 2 TB. More technical details may follow in the future once everything is finalized.

Q: Will this work on retail?

A: No, and it never will. JTAG and RGH only.

Q: What USBs will work?

A: Any standard external USB HDD should work fine. Drives under 2 TB are not guaranteed to work anymore with this patch, and you should not apply this patch if you still use them. You can also get a docking station, a 3.5" HDD, and that will work too. It may be necessary for external power to be provided via the wall, or a second USB port on your console since large disks may require more power than a single USB port can provide.

Q: How do I apply the patch?

A: When released, you will apply them to your xeBuild patchset and then flash a new nand to your console. DashLaunch cannot be used because the patches would be applied too late during the boot process.

Q: What file system will drives be formatted? How many partitions?

A: It will be formatted FATX. Microsoft changed the USB format to FAT32 in the April 2015 system update, but it's being changed back to FATX to make the special formatting process easier, and to fully take advantage of all space. This is also not the same as the original USB FATX format - there will be no data files. There will be 1 partition - from offset 0 of the drive all the way to the very end.

Q: Will this patch also work for internal SATA drives? What about on OG Xbox?

A: There are additional challenges for internal SATA drives that are being worked through. Do note that there doesn't appear to be HDDs larger than 2 TB that will actually fit in an Xbox 360's drive bay. Nothing has been found to suggest this trick won't work on OG Xbox, but it'll take a lot longer since it's an entirely different CPU and patching process to get familiar with.

I do have a sata station, which I use just to check the health of drives not in an enclosure or something. it's an interesting mod, but probably one that I won't use. I don't have that many 360 games. I have maybe 1.3TB of space left on my 2TB external. ;)

I have over 400 games on my RGH, some 360 some original Xbox some XBLA. But I only put the games I want and they fit snug on a 2 TB external with a 256 gb internal, and I feel like I have a very loose standard for wanting a game on there. I don't really understand wanting every single game even crappy ones but if that's what someone wants to do more power to them.

how about "don't all good games fit on 2TB drive?"

Agreed which was my first post's point, although I do go over that slightly with 2 TB external + 256 GB internal.

But like I said if someone wants to pay for storage to add Madden NFL Football 2007 they can have fun.

Don't know if I could fill a 2TB drive, but then again I don't like lots lf games that are popular.

for one/S/X yes but they still ban modded 360 because unlike it's successors the 360 has piracy (talking about 360 games not emulators) and possiable online cheating

If you know how to actually use your jtag/rgh, you won't get banned, and connect to xbl like any other retail units, the 360 was discontinued in 2015, plus that's just how better m$ Is with dealing with modding, they just perma ban you, possibly ban your IP, if it's static

They don't send c&d, and sue you

same for me, but I have a 1TB internal hdd. it's so old that it's 12.5mm tall, but it still works 100%. I have it nearly full, but I don't ever plan to upgrade. there's no real reason to especially when the system is almost never used.

I have terastation a 2tb raid drive, I remember my dad got it free over 10 years ago, funny all he did was partially fill out an order form online for one, however never submitted a purchase, a month later, a neighbor down the road gives him a box that was delivered to the wrong house, with the said terastation, I can use it on lan, USB, firewire

I miss pre 2008 internet

Thing was almost a grand at the time

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

However you can mod Trinities, the 4gb internal memory units is simply a USB flash connect internally via a header, there's a qsb adapter so you can remove the 4gb unit and add a USB port, only for Trinity mobo

I remember a mod where you could take control of one of the memory cards ports and add a 2TB hdd. I don't have a slim, so I don't know if that system has memory card ports.

if it was 2008, I would've been in Japan. the download speed was about the same as I remembered from the states, but the upload speed was faster than I was accustomed to.
