Is there already some type of chip tune creator for the gba? Maybe someone would like a comic viewer? Just a few suggestions.

Maxmod can play .mod, .s3m, .xm and .it module music files, so any tracker software like OpenMPT can be used to create music for the GBA.

Why doesn't someone port OpenBOR (Open Beats of Rage, a 2D side scrolling engine for beat em 'ups) to gba, or is it impossible?
I believe older and simpler mods should work, despite the limited ram available.
Mine is a simple suggestion but also a personal desire..:P

I guess OpenBOR has been made with more resolution, software rendering and more hardware resources in mind.

It would be great to have a beat 'em up engine like OpenBOR for the GBA :)

BTW, the total prize pool is already over 400$, and the number of entries that win a prize has increased a lot too :)

How about a breakout/arkanoid clone?:

-maybe with varied, colorful and moving backgrounds;
-original and creative power-ups;
-bricks of various materials and which break with sounds and explosions corresponding to the material they are made of;
-alternating weather conditions (rain, snow, wind, etc.):
-presence of funny, bizarre, clumsy, cute enemies, that interact with the ball (eat it, hide it, push it, deflect it, etc.);
-alternating balls of different materials (glass, rock, mud, rubber, fire etc.);
-approaching, moving away or swinging camera;
-finally, the paddle could change shape and size according to the power ups (baseball bat, hockey bat, kitchen rolling pin, flute, pencil etc.)

Mine are just humble, improvised suggestions and tips, or perhaps ravings...:rofl:

Yep clones count. I probably want to do a puzzle game, if I can't come up with an original idea, maybe I'll look for an obscure game to clone.
Gyromite would be nice. I’m a little bias though. I used to play that with my brother and ROB all the time. It’s one of my favorite NES games. Either way, I wish you luck!

Another good idea would be to port Heretic to gba, maybe with the possibility of using custom wads. PrBoom has recently been ported to gba, which works great with vanilla wads. ^_^
Many years ago Heretic was ported to DS, but it worked starting from slot2 flashcart (therefore in .gba format) and using PassMe/FlashMe: maybe someone could even convert this version, with the necessary changes.:unsure:

How is it going?

Tempest and I are working on a 3D racing game for the jam that runs at 60FPS!

Although there's still much work to do, here's a small video of it:

Come join us on Discord for more!

This will run on actual hardware? That's insane, will definitely test it out on release.
