Hi. I downloaded Retroarch from the Homebrew appstore and when I try loading a ROM it says "warning: missing assets. use the online" and "failed to load content". Where can I download the missing assets? Thanks.

Is there a way to delete games from the sd card from inside the retroarch menu system?
No. Retroarch is not supposed to be a dedicated file browser. Look into WiiXplorer, a really great vWii app or WiiU-Shell which is still in development but has some nice features.

Looks like the version from Homebrew store is old and hasn’t been updated in a while. I would suggest you download directly from Libretro site as their downloads currently include assets and everything you need to get started.

if anyone s getting the 160-4205 system memory error just download retroarch from the wiiu homebrew app store, worked for me

Trying to get FUSE to work.

It loads games fine, but the virtual keyboard does not appear when I hit the - button on the gamepad.
Any ideas why this is happening?

edit:
Updated the core and now it crashes the Wii U ?

Is fuse broken?

edit:
I broke it somehow but fixed it with a backup of my sd card. I also fixed the missing virtual keyboard.

Go to controls and turn joy 1 to kempston and - will now open the virtual keyboard.

Yes I mentioned this once.

Anyone getting error 160-4205 when trying to run retroarch via homebrew launcher? (the home menu version works fine)

This has been happening since version 1.9.0.

What's the deal with the memory error occurring?
It seems to happen as soon as RetroArch is launched from the Homebrew Launcher.

Anyone knows why it started happening? And/or what can fix it?

@MarioSilva @GATWYAY3.2 @ShadowOne333 The problem is specifically with the launcher app, i.e. sdmc:/wiiu/apps/retroarch/retroarch.rpx. I don't know when the issue started because I really never update the launcher app on my end, just the individual cores. But if you can find an older version before the issue started, you can just drop it over the broken one and it will work fine.

I am running the last stable release without issues by using the old channel loader. Well, WiiU Pro remotes are still not working but I got tired of waiting for a fix.

Also, surprisingly enough, the latest stable version is not giving me the memory error!!
I’ve played across different cores for hours before this sometimes closing the rom and other times not, not even restarting Retroarch and I am happy to report I did not get the black screen memory error.

Again, I am using the latest stable release from libretro website (no nightlies) with the WiiU Menu channel Loader that somebody uploaded a looong time ago and the only rpx I have is under sd:/wiiu/apps/retroarch/retroarch.rpx

You're right. by the way, this issue started with version 1.8.9.

I just attached a working launcher to this message, as old versions are no longer available on buildbot.

Dude if you can, I'd suggest to please open up an issue report about the WiiU standalone app on the Github repo and adding these as possible culprits. Could help a ton for debugging and for a potential fix.

Hi there,
Has anybody managed to run Cannonball ?
Tried with many versions of retroarch and re-downloaded the roms to be sure.
Always the same issue. The game loads, The main screen is OK and when you press "Play", the console freezes.
Any help will be appreciated :)

OK, so can anyone list to me all the current outstanding issues with the port?

Also, I understand people are upset right now, but could I basically ask anyone motivated if they could try the Picodrive core that was recently added to the WiiU nightlies and see if it works? The author would like to know.

Would love to help but for me after updating to the latest version nothing works. It won't boot from my installed retroarch channel and it won't boot from the homebrew launcher either.

OK, so help me understand all this -

directly launching RetroArch without these things (RetroArch channel/homebrew launcher) - no problems there, only when doing it through the launchers?

@ploggy you are a total genius deleted the cfg files and now the retroarch channel is booting perfectly again.

I forgot all about doing that. Been a long while since I last had a problem with the WiiU version. Funnily enough I think it was you told me to do that the last time probably about 500 pages ago :rofl2:

HAHA. More than likely it was me, I should put it in my Sig :P

Good news @LibretroRetroArc I got the Picodrive Core to boot :)
I had to set the picodrive_drc = "enabled" to "disabled" in the PicoDrive.opt (WiiU didnt create a PicoDrive.opt file when it crashed so I copied the PC file, changed the option and pasted it into the WiiU Retroarch/config/PicoDrive folder ;)

If anyone else wants to try the Picodrive Core, extract this file into the Retroarch/config/Picodrive folder (Create the PicoDrive folder if it isnt there) :)

Fair warning the Core is a little slow, afraid it would be but hoped the WiiU could handle it :/
EDIT: ((32X Emulation is slow I mean, Megadrive Emulation seems fine, havent tried MegaCD Emulation))

Yep Megadrive emulation working perfectly for me. As for Mega CD emulation well Sonic Cd USA version causes this to happen

Where as Snatcher Euro version loads but I get this unique error

Both Sonic Cd and Snatcher are running perfectly using Genesis Plus GX. So it's not an issue with my backups :)

Edit so just out of curiosity I have just downloaded the Euro version of Sonic Cd and gave that a go using Picodrive and now that is giving me the same error as Snatcher

I get the same error as you Sonic CD(US) I tried editing the PicoDrive.opt file region option from AUTO to US to see if that made any difference.. it didn't :(
I tried the same game on the PC RA Picodrive core and it booted up straight away :P

EDIT: I noticed my bios files didnt match the MD5hash from the bios on the libretro docs page for Picodrive, so for completeness I grabbed the ones that matched and tried them instead.. it still didnt run but it didnt crash either, now I get the same groovy pixel mess like you :)
