Is there a way to update rosalina to the latest stable version?
My new 2DS version for rosalina is 2.1.0 but my niece's is 2.2.0 and can pin homebrew to the top of the homebrew launcher's menu using the select button. I want to use this feature.

Maybe you are confusing the version number of lumaupdate with Luma3DS (some people did this).

To update Luma3DS to the latest version put boot.firm (and while you're at it the Hombrew Launcher boot.3dsx) on your SD overwriting the previous version. Please don't forget to update the copy on CTRNAND ([Español]) as well.

Let me explain. I am pretty sure what I want to update is Rosalina. My Luma3DS is already updated (to 10.2.1*) because I used lumaupdate* (latest fork by KunoichiZ) to do so (I pressed the button combo to update the one at CTRNAND too).

When I open the Homebrew launcher and look at the top screen I can see a Rosalina mention followed by its the version number.

My niece's one is 2.2.0 and mine is 2.1.0

What I want to update is Rosalina.

the homebrew launcher is boot.3dsx iirc, so maybe you're using an outdated version. afaik, rosalina doesn't update apart from the homebrew launcher itself.

Replacing boot.3dsx (placed in the root of the filesystem) fixed it. My 2DS's Rosalina is updated now. Thanks so much.

PS: For those who want to update Rosalina ("boot.3dsx") my advice is: Don't do it before updating Luma3DS ("boot.firm") on both places: SD and CTRNAND.

Now I understand. The Homebrew Launcher prints its version number (currently v2.2.0) on the upper screen -- right next to the word "Rosalina" because it is started via Rosalina (not legacy *hax entrypoints)

What you updated with the boot.3dsx file is the Homebrew Launcher (New Homebrew Menu) not Rosalina which is -- like Shadow#1 explained above Luma3DS menu / custom system module which is accessed by (L)+(Down)+(Select).
