Hi, I've spent about a day reading about hacking my switch and I think I'm ok with how to do it, but just had a few questions about playing games afterwards.

Can you please clarify the below questions/points if I am correct?

To play the installed games on Atmosphere, (if I shut down my Switch after my first RCM boot instead of leaving it in Sleep mode) I must boot into RCM which requires a jig. And then to load into Atmosphere, I must inject the Hekate payload (using a PC/dongle) every time I play a game.

AutoRCM will make it always boot into RCM (without jig). But I must still inject the Hekate payload using a PC/dongle everytime?

Does the jig damage/wear down the Switch hardware? Assuming I use it once a day (shut down daily)?

Can I charge my Switch while running a game in RCM? And can I charge while in Sleep mode in RCM?

If I use AutoRCM and I shut down my Switch and plug it into charge, will it auto boot RCM?

If I have Emunand installed, and boot into the normal official Switch side, does updating the system affect the hacking side of things, or it doesn't matter?

1. Yes.
2. You don't have to shut it down. There is a "feature", called reboot to payload. If you don't want to damage the pins, use autorcm.
3. Sleep mode is not the rcm.
4. Yes
5. It doesn't affect it. Emummc and sysmmc are two separate operation systems.

  • Yes
  • AutoRCM as the name implies AUTOmatically boots the console into RCM. However RCM is not an exploit because the exploit itself is actually sending a payload so a payload has to be sent either externally with a dongle/computer/phone or internally with a modchip
  • It has the potential to damage it so its recommended to enable AutoRCM as soon as possible
  • While you can technically charge in RCM, its not really recommended to do so because RCM is nearly indistinguishable from a powered down console. Not to mention that if you have AutoRCM enabled, then you will no longer be able to charge the console in RCM because AutoRCM affects the way the console charges in RCM. Lastly, sleep mode and RCM are 2 completely different states; you cannot be in sleep mode and RCM, you can only be in one or the other
  • If you powered off the console while it wasn't in CFW then yes otherwise the answer is no. The reason is because CFW allows shutdowns while the console is in even if AutoRCM is enabled but the same is not true for OFW
  • emuMMC and sysMMC operate independently of one another
