Hi

I have a nintendo switch which doesnt turn on. I have opened it and I have found it had a shorted cap near the M92T36 IC but once I fliped the board I have seen P13USB IC was blown and it had the cap shorted also.

I have removed the P13USB IC (I have no replace it yet) and now I have no short on the pcb but here is my problem, one of the five filters which go connected to that IC is missing (and also the pads) and my doubt is, what is the function of that filter? The one I have missed is the one which doesnt have caps near.

Do I have to replace the filter also and in that case can I get it? Thanks in advance

I think they are there to meet regulations, the console will work without them but IIRC the pads need to be bridged, which is kinda tricky when the pads are gone.

First of all thanks for the reply. When the say IIRC pads you mean making a bridge between two pins from P13USB which go to that filter?

Thanks in advance

Then, as I cant use the pads of the board for the filter, I woul have to jumper the filter and after that wire it to the P13USB? Or one side of the filter goes to the P13USB and the other one to......?

you can also scratch the trace a litte to expose the copper and run jumpers. Might be simpler to do.
You can also use 2x 0402 sized filters for an ipad. they are cheap to get on ebay. The filter linked before looks to big for your board. They have used two types of filters for whatever reason.

look up northridgefix on youtube, he did a repair on that blown filter.

Thanks for the replies.

I have ordered thise 0402 cheap filters and the P13USB. While I wait (I have ordered them in AliExpress) I have prepared the pads. I know it is not the best rebuild but I think it will work

Hi guys, finally I received the P13USB IC I replaced it and it seems like the switch is working!!! At least it turns on and charges. I didn´t want to check it more because I have not soldered the filters yet (I dont have them yet).

According to blueflue´s comentary about the filters from an ipad I realized I have a spare board from my iPhone 5 and I have seen it has filters but they are not exactly the same as the switch one, its smaller. Anyways as the ipads filter would work, would it works also from the iphone 5 board? I put a pic of it compared with the switch
