I cannot start or have acess to the sava of my pokemon US original game.I can see the game icon when the game is in my 3ds slot but when I try to start it, I receive the following error msg:

An error occurred (ErrDisp)

Error type: generic
Process ID: 15
Process name: menu
Process title ID: 0x0004003000008f02

Address: 0x00229358

Press any button to reboot
I cannot see my save anymore either in PKSM or Checkpoint, JKSM.

Try deleting the update and redownload from the e-shop.

I have this same issue. Exact same error: titleID, address, and error with any game cartridge I try to launch on my 2ds xl. Anyone been able to figure this out? 3DS or DS title, doesn't matter. To me, it seems it's an issue with the game slot itself.

I bought second hand and it seems like the previous owner installed cfw at some point. However it was all deleted by the time I received it so really not sure what method they used. I suspect, but am not sure, that some original 3ds menu data that launches games got corrupted or something.

After installing latest luma3ds, issue still present, but I suspect it's a software issue that can be fixed since the title info displays just fine before launching the game.

Hoping someone has an update or any other ideas on how to reset the cartridge slot itself.

You can try to perform a ctrtransfer: https://3ds.hacks.guide/ctrtransfer
It should hopefully fix any software issues.

The first thing to do is to remove the SD card and see if the problem goes away. (If the 3DS dosen't boot with the SD card removed, then you should install Luma to the NAND or update the copy in the NAND, as in https://3ds.guide/restoring-updating-cfw .)

If the problem goes away, then you can start looking at the SD card. Clearing the Home menu extdata as in https://3ds.hacks.guide/troubleshooting#other-troubleshooting would be a good start.

A CTRtransfer seems very rash and I don't know why it seems to come up here so often.

Wow, thanks for the quick responses. I was not expecting anything. Thought this thread was dead.

Long story short, I fixed it.

The solution was to clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol. I just poored some on the cartridge and re-instered it into my 2ds xl about 10 times. Then let the cartridge slot dry fully.

I was very surprised that this worked since previously the game cartridge was recognized when placed in the console, but the above error persisted whenever launching the game.

I thought it was some obscure cfw corruption issue for sure. But I guess not 🤷

After going down an extensive rabbit hole tonight with no end in site I found an old conversation on a 3ds hombrew discord server with a user that suggested this and it worked for them even though they had the exact same error.

Worked for me as well. Hopefully others in the thread can try it as well and respond with results.

Good luck.
