Any idea why after I inject a payload following the listed guide, it's only a black screen? The injection is successful and whatnot so I'm not sure what's going wrong.

List some info about your console, payload, CFW version, Atmos version, etc

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I do, and I just updated them, but it didn't change anything.
Try shutting down switch, put sd card in pc, copy NSP file to sd card (SD:\switch\Goldleaf\userdata), then try install nsp in goldleaf from sd card, not a perm fix but trying to figure out if installs that way atleast, could be an usb/port/other issue,

I've had to shut it down a few times because it'll freeze and crash sometimes.

I'd start over if so...backup your Nand, Boot0/1, Keys first , if havn't already...Format sd card to FAT32, (windows won't format to Fat32 so need program like Aomei) Copy files to sd card from here: https://www.sdsetup.com. Get new sigpatches from here: https://github.com/eXhumer/patches/releases/tag/v11.0.1-5 and place in correct place, make sure both your ,keys files in switch folder, then try again...Also make sure you are using a good name brand Sd card like "Sandisk"

Latest version of Atmosphere, Hekate. Following this guide here I'm on the safety precautions page just trying to push the hekate payload to do a backup and whatnot. But my RCM shows up with a black screen even after injecting a payload. I'm not sure what other launchers I can use to try it. I've tried the android 'Rekado' app and the TegraRcmGUI app but they both do the same thing. Screen is just black, but the payload injection was successful. I haven't updated any firmware or anything. This is right out the box.

It only falls under 'possibly patched' but it has gotten this far anyhow. I could technically finish the job if I just knew what buttons to press taking to mind the invisible screen. The only thing I'm not certain on it my USB. I've been looking for my good one but I can't find it. If I find it and it still doesn't work, I may have to just assume the worst.

If you can't successfully push a payload to it, most likely it's patched...

I accidentally updated my firmware, I can get to the hekate screen but can't launch the payload. How do I fix this?
https://www.sdsetup.com/ and read a bunch here...not hard tho, just best u learn how to, so later when time to update, it's simple. Alot of things matter tho, SX or not, update what=Orig Firmware or CFW, Sysnand, emunand, what console you on= Erista, Lite...ETC

But that's the thing, I have yet to be unsuccessful at pushing any payloads. They all string as successful. Just the screen is still black. I saw somewhere else that others were having this issue but it was a matter if using a different Launcher. I'm not sure.

I've personally never had a payload not work so....Calling all Nice People Here! Please chime in here to help! Thanks in advance!
@Draxzelex @LyuboA are geniuses here so hopefully they respond to you soon. Good Luck!

Did I mess something up? I extracted the atmosphere latest version of atmosphere onto my sd card but I'm still getting the red "unknown pkg1 version etc etc" error
When in hekate menu, try going to "Payloads" tab then selecting the "Fusee-Primary"

exfat can corrupt all sorts of different files, from homebrew to games, all depending on where thte corruption happens

fat32 is recommended and games can be installed over usb

Can I format my 128gb card to FAT32? I'm guessing I risk loosing my emuMMC setup by doing so?
When they mention that Retroarch only officially supports FAT32, does that mean that it will not work on my SD card? Also, aren't lots of Switch games that take up more than 4gb of space? How can they be installed if the SDcard is formated to FAT32?

I'm somewhat unsure of how I should proceed without having to start all the way from scratch and set emuMMC all over again.

it will but you risk it corrupting, your best bet is to backup your emummc using hekate, copy fies to pc, use guiformat to format the sd card as fat32, then copy files back, resetup the emummc, then restore the backup.

install games over usb

Thanks again. I guess I'll just have to pull up a chair and go through the process again.

I also have a question regarding the cartridge slot. I read some users have issues with their cartridge slot after updating their console. This is a 3.0.0 Switch which is running Hekate to load emuMMC. After emuNAND on 3DS, as well as some comments on here, I felt pretty sure that "what happens in emuXXX stays in emuXXX". Am I mistaken here? My emuMMC is updated to something like 11.x.x.x. Now I don't use the cartridge reader, but have I updated my cartridge slot by updating my emuMMC? Would my slot be non-functional while on 3.0.0 sysnand now?
