I've 2x switches and 2x copies of Mario Kart Live on the way.

I'm reading reviews about the RC cars being wifi controlled.

The problem is both my switches are hacked and have never been online. Original firmware 1.0 is in both with emu band on latest.

Is there anyway to play 2 player mario kart live without going online and getting banned?

Is this confirmed working?
I have a modded and unmodded switch, but don't really fancy this in one player mode...
Can a modded switch link & play with a modded one?...

I have no idea about can modded switches play each other, but for the official game there is this. I don't see why it would matter that the two switches are modded since it's offline but I could be wrong.

Does Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit have multiplayer?
Yes, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit does have multiplayer. But it isn’t exactly the kind of multiplayer you might expect from a Mario Kart game. Since the game does revolve heavily around the physical toys, everyone is going to need both a Nintendo Switch and an actual kart. There’s also no online that we know of, which means everything is going to be done locally.

So you would need to buy two or more karts but that's if they sell them separate from the game or how much they cost. I assume they do or else this modded release is completely useless. The game doesn't play without them.

From the modding community about the release I only get more questions and no answers yet. You can buy a kit but I think they are mostly sold out everywhere unless you want to pay $200 on from a seller on Ebay or Amazon. I know I'm not buying one period thus I'm just completely passing on this game.

Hi, i have two switch: one banned and the other not. In the banned one the multiplayer button is not enabled so i can't make a multiplayer game, Just single player.
Does someone has this problem? I tried sx os and athmosphere so i think is not related to cfw. In single player on banned works perfectly.

Did you manage to get multiplayer going on the banned switch?

No, it doesn't work and the strange thing is that if i use ofw on not banned switch and mario kart live downloaded from the eshop, doesn' t work too. It seems like it "knows" it is a modded console
Thanks for the info...
I guess that it must check-in with Nintendo's servers regardless of whether it actually plays online or not...

That's a bummer. But it's typical Nintendo. Their mobile apps don't work without Internet Connection even if you are doing single player stuff.

I'm hearing that other people on Reddit are having success playing single player mode with a modded Switch. I think it might require a "connected" Nintendo account. This might help if one of y'all want to try it:

On single player it works perfectly on modded console and even banned one. The multiplayer doesn't work, only the multiplayer.

Yes unfortunately only single player works.

Could a memory cheat code or trainer get multiplayer working somehow on a pair of hacked switches?

We discovered multiplayer works using the local network option. The wifi icon will have an L symbol when you are connected to the other switch.

Yes, you can play with no modded switch. You just have to turn on wifi (of course without connection to internet) and that's it.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
