Nice project, thanks!..

If you or anybody needs custom front fullsized Switch boxart-alike covers, here's the archive of 2134 pcs of them standardized in PNG, 640x393 px resolution, like this:

View attachment 233677 View attachment 233678 View attachment 233679

The down's link.

this is pretty awesome, ive always hated the squares, it looks too basic for a modern system
https://nintendo.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Nintendo_Switch_box_art_(North_America) this site seems to have loads of covers but i think its only ntsc covers

Additionally I found this other page fyk

https://www.gametdb.com/

Maybe it would be easier to just download all known covers into a zip file.could probably make some sort of script to parse one of the websites and then zip that up. Do that maybe once a month with a compare of downloaded assets to download only new ones And unzip that on the switch it's self. Rather than having loads of people possibly hitting the websites them self with a load of traffic

i am working on something similar. but its more like ulaunch and will replace the default homescreen instead of beeing a theme.
that means it wont break on updates and it will always have up to date images because its getting them from nintendo itself.
basically getting a list of installed ids on your system and with some magic it will download just the things you need.

the only thing i lack is creativity. its hard to design something new.

this is a video from my pc but its already working on my switch too.

i have siccc animations planned though

Well I have a SX Core v1 unpatched and I am willing to try it for you on the switch.
sure but i have like 2% of the work done. ill write my own post once i have something testable.
i also dont want to hijack this thread.

my opinion is just that this isnt the best idea.
(themes that break every opdate, some "random" sysmodule and another homebrew to do the dirty work)

Hard to believe you are running something like that in the switch. But we need improve in the themes so any experimental tool is welcome :P

If you have any progress you can use this post if you want, until you open yours. Which is almost a historical review of mockups and real designs running on Switch (like uLaunch's).

This agrees that it is best to have a tool that does not break with each update. It's like the holy grail or something like that.

Just take my word

this has nothing to do with ulaunch or a custom theme. The video is made with an earlier version, thats why its lacking the description and background image thing. the name on the hb in the vid is just a meme. but you can clearly see its a homebrew and thus can replace qlaunch (the default home menu).

Perfect, There is a lot of covers in this site (and other resources). Very usefull thx.

Yes, the Internet is only needed to download them. But you can add your own covers. You know this is an idea that can grow if we can solve the main technical issues, adding more functionality.

It would be interesting if you could also create themes with banners, to get something like this

OuXmQsH.png

Currently this is possible. Maybe upload an example video of how it would look.

Something very similar to these others can also be implemented with the current state of the project:

uRK4XrT.png

This last one except the logo of the game at the top, the folder Indie Collection, and the information below the logo:

I was talking about this in the NXThemes with some users. Project uLaunch is very good and has great potential. It is not clear to me what the limit of what can be achieved is because I have not delved into its documentation.

I know that you can get something like these:

cnRDLFp.png

r9R5E0d.png

bNoixPj.png

So basically the main difference with the NXThemes core is that with uLaunch you can create folders, and a higher level of customization of some elements. Some animations and layouts can be used too. Is excelent.

Currently we don't have any tool able to do something like this (For example highlighting one element from another by previewing its description and other metadata, but I'm sure that perhaps with uLaunch some middleware could be implemented that allows it):

AxnbVWg.jpg

Rt8cU1U.jpg

VBr2itZ.jpg

Putting animated gifs or webp as background is not possible either.

Something like this is not possible right now ((I highly doubt that something can be developed without draining the battery but who knows):

The most significant advances in animations have been made in the NSX Themes community, although they are based on geometric transformations (translations, rotations, scaling) and opacity.

Where did you get Spotify?

I think the best theme they could do would be SwitchFlow. Yes, very inspired by WiiFlow. The best feature would be to choose different ways to view the covers as WiiFlow did.

@K3Nv2 Snow Day is pretty fun. My only bitch would be the camera controls, when you move around, say down, you have to move the right stick left or right to get camera to turn and get your view, other than that I like it so far.

From what people say pvp isn't even worth it

I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Many of them did before colour television was common.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Likely because black and white TV was in-expensive.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It certainly wasn't inexpensive it cost the same as a new car back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@K3Nv2, take into consideration how economy was back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why they listed inflation rates
