To be honest, this was the first time I've ever seen it. It's a peculiar controller.

I wonder, what does 3/4 speed mean?
It looks surprisingly close to the final controllers, considering how different many of the prototypes we have seen previously look to the final unit. It must've been a late prototype, right before they decided on the final design, or maybe they just decided on a design really early on.

The DS5, 3/4 Speed prototype controller for the Nintendo GameCube. This version of the GameCube controller was included with the Dolphin development system sent to game developers and is close to the final, retail. It has minor differences including button size, placement and ergonomics.

There are also Full Speed Types around...somewhere:D

Was sold for £630 ($836 / €703).

It's definitely a cool and rare collectible, just hard to say if it was worth that, but someone bought it for that much so it is.
