I very much dislike the D-pad on my Xbox One S controller that I use for my PC because it's rather small, very hard and clicky and makes my thumb sore after five minutes. I find it so uncomfortable that I'm deterred from using it for anything with D-pad priority. The Xbox Series controller of course adopted a disc hybrid design. To anyone who's used both controllers, does it improve thes comfortability issues? And if so, by how much? I'm looking to get one as an all-in-one wireless Xinput controller for my PC instead of switching to my USB-wired Dualshock 4 for many games.

The new dpad is way more clicky, which I loved. I even spent a couple minutes just hearing it.

I liked it a lot, but couldn't test it properly on Capcom fighters as ssf2thdr and mvc aren't ported to Series X.

How do you like using the Xbox One D-pad then? My main metric here is how the new D-pad compares in comfortability compared to that.

The old one was fine, way better than the 360, even though I also found my way in Street Fighter 4 on it. But the Series X is definitely an improvement.

Yesterday I've fired up Mvc Infinite and was able to compete the missions for X and Ryu on the dpad.

i just got it today and I really like it. for anyone else who might see this, dislikes the xbo controller and is still on the fence, here're some things that're different + how i think it's an enormous improvement:
-the handles and triggers are gripped
-all the plastic is lightly textured which gets rid of the cheap hollow feeling when it rumbles
-the d-pad is actually comfortable and really seamless to use
-the face buttons feel way more solid which gets rid of how uncomfortably hard yet hollow they feel on xbo
-the triggers have about twice the resistance so that they actually feel fine to press for stuff that isn't shooting a gun, more like a natural button press
-bumpers feel better
-sticks are looser and more responsive
-thinner handles so it doesn't cramp my hands anymore
-obviously the share button is uh, There, not sure if it works on xbox one/how but i don't know of any use of it on pc
overall a soild thumbs up and content smile from me

Have the latest Xbox controllers already as I wanted to get used to them.
For a week or so I have been using both the Xbox Series X controller, as well as the Elite Series 2 Controller on my Nintendo Switch thanks to a 8bitdo retro receiver. And must say I reaallly like the clicky Elite 2 d-pad. (not the shield... as I am not the biggest fan of that)

Personally ... I think the Elite Series 2 controller ... might be the best controller I have played with and I have been playing every Nintendo console ever, as well as venturing out to Dreamcast, PS2 and playing some PS3 and PS4 with friends.

It's an expensive controller for sure ... but each time I grab it im still impressed with it, in regard to weight, grip, options, etc.

I prefer the "plus" cross shape, never had an issue with comfort. I'm not a fan of the disk on my elite v1 controller, but I love the metallic cross. Thankfully I have the choice.

I haven't used the controller that came with the series x much, not a big fan of the disk.

The dpad does take some time getting used to it and it's very clicky, but I've gotten used to it and it's comfortable to use

The new d-pad on the Series controller is nice and all but for my money the best Xbox d-pad was on the The Duke. It just melts to your thumb.

Dude, clicky d-pads are the only way to go! These mushy sony and nintendo controller d-pads are horrible to use. (Nintendos d-pads on the dsi (xl) and the 3ds were awsome though. At least you get some feedback with these. The current ps and ninty d-pads feel like squeezing a marshmallow!

P.S Yes i know im getting fired up about my d-pads XD

You got a good chance of buying a used one and asking the seller how often they used or even ask for a Pic of fw and telling them not to update

Speaking of PLaystation. I see Evilnat put out a beta for PS3 CFW 4.91.2 on the 22nd.

Don't really see the point in updating it tbh
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you right, I thought about updating my PS3 CFW to 4.91, but why really, everything plays fine now. I guess for people that have already updated past 4.9 it would be helpful.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Idk if online servers are still active that would be my only thought
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I don't play it online at all, in fact, I deleted all wifi details on it once I installed CFW, so it won't connect and auto-update itself
