Nowadays when it comes to Wiiware us better to use an emulator on PC.
Well yes I agree , as a PC user but , I wanted to give a Wii for my Nephew , with some wiiware and Wii games , from an easy to use channel interface . He's only 7 , its a great first console ^_^

As communicated in PM, try using your nand.bin dump, extract it's contents using showmiiwads

U may also want to replace the default setting.txt used when creating fresh emunands with modmii with the one from your Wii's nand dump. You should also limit the number of extras you install on it until u can get a basic minimal emunand to load

It may also be a compatibility issue with your sd card or hard drive

I've never personally had an issue getting modmii emunands to work, but I know from other user reports that it can be finiky. You may very well be doing everything "right", but for some reason u need to use a workaround of some kind as described above to get it to work for your particular case

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Edit: I think I've heard of users being able to load content from an emunand using usb loader gx even though they were never able to successfully boot into the emunand using neek, u could try this as well

Install a USB loader channel. Then get a usb stick with about 32 gb and fill it with Gamecube games since the roms are smaller. You will need either a Gamecube controller or a clone. No matter the hack all the Gamecube games, as long as they are as the same region of the Wii, work. For something bigger the Wii usb port doesn't give you enough power so you will need an external hard disk with its own power cable, all in FAT 32 format of course.

Considering thar he is 7 the usb stick is the better option. An external hard disk can be easily destroyed and is much more expensive to replace than a usb stick.

Flash drives can be problematic at times so why not just use a large SD card?

I use 128GB, 256Gb & 512GB SDXC cards when making Wii setups for people that just want certain games and not everything.

This way the card is nicely tucked away behind the front flip down door.

That can work perfectly, is just that 32 gb usb flash drives are kind of cheap nowadays.

Setting the common issues related to using flash drives on the Wii aside. Seeing he's 7 I thought not having the extra sticking out of the back to play with might help keep problems from happening. It works well with adults too, keeps them from unplugging and losing it.

Not sure how pricing is in your area of the world, but Amazon has the SDCX cards at really good costs here in the US. Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XJRX01M/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

-64GB $10.99
-128GB $19.99
-256GB $37.98
-512GB $79.99

With a 512GB SDXC you could fit around 225(ish) games on it.

Gamecube games are 1.5 GB I think?. But Wii games are 4 gb or more.

There really isn't 225 Gamecube games worth playing. You barely get to a hundred decent games, unless you count ports from previous Nintendo systems then is a bit more.

Using Wii Backup Manager and converting them to .wbfs provides much smaller file sizes. Not all, but most come out smaller.

I looked at my drive and with 1,773 Wii titles taking up 3.04TB that averages out to 1.714GB per title. Depending on which games are chosen your mileage may vary.

The attached screenshot shows the size of some of the titles, sorted lowest to highest:

What about wii VC wiiware? Can that be installed via USB loader? I search this and it allways leads to uNeek/Sneek , which just is not working . Spent 2+ days playing around with it , Im done with it

Forger Wiiware, most of the games are not that great, give you problems to install on the Wii or are limited due to the Wiiware size limit. Run the Wiiware on a PC emulator instead.

It would be really helpful if someone who has a working Sneek and/or Uneek Emulated NAND , to record the process from start to finish . I mean from an unhacked wii , to playing GC and Wiiware from SD/USB

I have previously hacked serveral wii's using the old skoll methods , bathaxx, letterbomb, and sucessfully played ISO's using USB backup loaders . Though I am starting to see the shortcombings of these methods , such as limited Nand and poor VC/Wiiware compatibliy . I have been reading about emulated nand emunand , which seems great on paper . with much better compatiblity with VC / Wiiware and Emulation

For the life of me , the SNEEK+UI options on Modmii are just not working . The Moddmii compiler seems incredibly easy ( almost too easy ) . I follow the simple steps , choose hack type (sNeek+DI) then wii version , build , optional extras checked then Copy files to SD
I insert the SD , I can install the Sneek Wad but it just will not load . No idea how to get this working .
What is your end goal with sneek

I find there is no common way to get it to work. Some wiis will some won't . Ive modded many wiis and have about 12 on my self right now.
One will work fine with sneek and one won't. I thought maybe it had to do with boot2 or iso bootmii install. But nope.

I gave up finding a common process to work on every Wii and just do

Priloader that's boot directly into usbloader or wiiflow (I prefer Wii flow with rhapsodii theme)
Both usbloader and wiiflow can emulate nands .

Wiiware use usbloader to install

Steps are go to settings
Feature setting then down to dump nand and choose everthing

Once that completes in the featured settings right above dump nand is wad manager
Put all your wads (wiiware) into a folder on SD or usb and use the wad manger in usbloader to either install the whole folder at once or individual wads .

BEWARE THE WIIWARE HAS TO BE THE SAME REGION AS YOUR WII OR YOU COULD BRICK EVERYTHING.

So, what emulator runs Wiiware the best on PC, Dolphin?

I don't think it matters if your installing onto an emulated nand.
Yes if you install to your real nand ... No?

I don't recommend installing any wads to you real nand besides a forwarder or two.

As long as you have priiloader or bootmii installed as boot2 u can recover from any potential banner bricks from installing bad wads. U can install wiiware from other regions no problem, there's even priiloader hacks for region free everything.

ONLY IF YOU MADE A BACKUP FIRST!

But yes, is no big deal nowadays.

No, a nand backup (while always advisable to have), is not necessary to recover from a banner (or theme) brick if u have bootmii as boot2 or priiloader installed. U can use either to launch the homebrew channel and launch a wad manager or any title deleter to remove the offensive channel (or theme) and recover without a nand backup.

I know this may be a bit off topic, but speaking of NAND Backups, if I bricked a Wii and either didn't make or had lost my NAND Backup, would I be able to restore a NAND from a different Wii and have everything work? Or is each NAND somehow linked to each individual Wii? Just something I always wanted to know. Thanks.

Each nand is console specific. That being said, if u have only the console keys, you can build a new virgin nand.bin using ohneschwanzenegger and flash it to your wii. Or if you prefer you can take a nand dump from one console and convert it to use with a different console by supplying both sets of keys to another application by giantpune: punetwiin (sp?), which is an evolution of the original Betwiin (although I believe both were developed in isolation from one another)

In short, nand dumps and keys are console specific, but there are ways around this so long as you at least have the keys
