Soo i've been away from switch modding for about a year now.
I got back and installed sx os 3.04 and updated os 1.10
Is soft boot finally a thing?
I can restart my switch now without having to put dongle in anymore

Fairly certain this has been asked a thousand times but I simply can't see or find a direct answer for this.

I currently have a Mariko Switch running 10.1.0 with SX Core. Really want to move onto Atmospheré as sys-modules plugins a very limited with SX OS.

So can I actually do this? I don't mind have to switch between payloads to do so. Anyone have a break down if this is possible, and if it is. How complex is the process.

So I'm working with SXOS at the moment. And only worked with SXOS. But as I'm running into some issues regarding homebrew I'm thinking to switch to atmosphere.

But a few questions:

1. Is EmuNAND the same on atmosphere which leaves a "completely" clean SysNAND.
2. On SXOS EmuNAND I run stealth+90DNS+Incognito. Atmosphere doesnt have stealth but is 90DNS and Incognito on atmosphere as "safe" without stealth. (And yes ofcourse safe is a big word. Don't really care for a ban but want to postpone it as long as possible :) )
3. XCI isn't a thing in atmosphere I believe. But do NSP's work the same as on SXOS. I mostly install them from my NAS server directly on the Switch.
4. Any reason to stay on SXOS?

I have been away from my cfw switch for a while. I am currently running 9.0.1 and just upgraded to AMS 0.14.2. New game that I am looking to install seems to require a newer firmware. "Key generation mismatch(console's firmware is too low)".

What is the best way to go about upgrading the fw, and which fw to go to?

Sorry, a little timid as I seem to have forgotten how it all works together.

Atmosphere 0.14 includes a new Daybreak homebrew app that can update the firmware, you just need a downloaded copy. If you google for Switch Firmware Archive, you should be able to find it.

EDIT: Whoops, I opened an old browser tab and replied to an old post. lol

I have just gotten a switch with fw 4.1.0. I would like to hack it and be able to play online. I saw a tutorial about setting up two emummc's and was wondering what I should do before setting up the emummc's. Should I download caffeine to then run hekate?

Edit: I do not want to plug in my switch to my computer everytime I power it on, that is why I want caffeine.

Thank you very much and lastly is my switch compatible with all payloads (except for the cfw ones until you do the chainload as you said) that unpatched eristas can run like lockpick, incognito etc. or just some specific ones?

Payloads will work regardless of what the Switch model is. The only difference is the method used to send the payload. Such as in your case, using the reboot-to-payload feature in SX OS to launch Hekate, and load another payload from there.

Yes, Atmosphere introduced the option to reboot back into CFW without jumping through hoops. SX OS followed suit shortly after.

Yes, you'll need to chainload via Hekate, because SX OS blocks the ability to load any CFW other than itself, but doesn't block Hekate (it being a bootloader rather than CFW, I suppose). You can set up Hekate's payload as the "reboot-to-payload" option in SX OS first, then launch it, and from there launch Atmosphere (recommended payload is "fusee-primary.bin"). It takes some configuration but it's not difficult to do.

1. EmuNAND is essentially the same regardless of firmware, iirc. The only differences being are that SX OS offers a built-in "stealth mode" toggle to lessen the risk of ban (and how effective it actually is, I don't know), as well as XCI support. A "clean" sysNAND is subjective. If you've left it untouched by homebrew from the start, then yes. It's still "clean," as you say. However, if you choose to switch to Atmosphere, you may have to start fresh, mainly due to XCI and homebrew incompatibilities. I'm not sure if SX OS's emuNAND is even compatible with Atmosphere. But if the necessity arises, Hekate can assist in that regard.

2. Correct on both counts. That is the way to go with ATmosphere, though once Incognito is setup, there's really no need for 90DNS. Also, yes, "safe" is kinda pushing it, because running any kind of unsigned code or homebrew on a Switch WILL get you a ban, it's just honestly a matter of time (since they seem to mass-ban in "waves").

3.Correct, XCIs are NOT compatible with any other CFW besides SX OS. And tbh even some NSPs may not work with Atmosphere if they were installed under SX OS. Not sure why. *shrug*

4. In my opinion, no. If you ask the community at large, they will tend to agree. SX OS is not considered a "good" CFW, for various reasons, one being the homebrew incompatibility mentioned before.

Should also clarify my Switch model is HAC-001 (-01). Can this process still be done?

Yes. Provided that you have a way to chainload payloads via Hekate (which you do with SX OS, regardless of model revision).

I'm not very familiar with Caffeine but from what I know it's unable to load any payloads from RCM (despite being able to still boot into RCM). And be forewarned, you should NEVER access any online features on sysNAND, let alone set up an internet configuration, without taking proper precautions first. The console will likely forever nag you to update, which will thus patch the browser and prevent CFW access. There's no way to remove this "supernag" on a ipatched system. So be very careful. And backing up your NAND is not only recommended, but mandatory. Honestly should be regardless of CFW used.

Continuing on, if I'm correct in assuming that your console is indeed ipatched, you should follow this guide to set things up.
https://switch.homebrew.guide/hacking/caffeine/forewarning.html

I linked it to the page before the actual setup because I cannot stress how important it is to block Nintendo's servers before connecting to the internet (or even proceeding with this process). Be sure to read everything at least once before starting the process.

I'm not sure if plugging your Switch into your PC is necessary to cold boot after PegaScape is setup, but you can restart the Switch directly into Atmosphere, at the very least.

Well I never said there wasn't a modchip for the Lite as I assumed the hardmod you mentioned was the modchip. Hacking the Lite is only worth it if you never plan on getting the original model for reasons stated earlier.

Ok, I misunderstood there. Thanks again for the reply and clarification.

So my last question would be an opinion from those that have done it: whether or not a Lite is worth hardmodding using SXcore Lite? I know I'm the only one that can answer that (trust me, I've dealt with so many new people in the PS4 scene that have asked what I'm basically asking here and I know it's frustrating to answer). I'm just reading a lot about compatibility issues and weird quirks so I can't shake the feeling that outside of piracy (not my main concern) it isn't capable of doing enough to risk the install, even for an experienced solder-er like myself. Would you agree?

The regular Switch seems like a no-brainer but, again, I'm not wealthy enough to be in the market for one anytime soon. Is the drop between it and the Lite regarding exploit features as big as it seems to be?

Tinfoil appears to be shitting the bed. The website keeps giving me the error "Invalid login attempt," despite having changed my password four times, and now the app itself keeps getting stuck at 0%, until it eventually just says "FAIL." And before this, I had downloaded and installed the v1.2.1 Pokemon Sword update several times but it never changes from 1.2.0. Any ideas?

Hi, I'm a complete noob. I have a hackable switch, my original fw is 10.0.4
Yesterday I tried to CFW my switch with the guide here "switch.homebrew.guide". I did the emuMMC but I don't think my switch is not supposed to be. On startup, I saw 4 options CFW (sysMMC), CFW (emuMMC), Stock and Fusee. I don't know what Fusee is, and i think it shouldn't be there. When i try CFW (emuMMC), i cant install any game although i tried to install sigpatches. So tried to boot with Fusee and everything went ok, i had successfully installed the games and played them. I'm not sure if I'm booting from system Nand or emu Nand, but i could play the games so i didn't care anymore.

Today when i boot with Fusee and try to open the game it asks me too update the software and didn't let me start the game. There was no internet connection so i think its safe to update the software and i started the software (i don't know what happened when i clicked on update software). After that Fusee gets broken and never boot again. It shows this warning: "Fatal error: [NXBOOT] Failed to identify FS version...".

So i decided to apply cfw again from start, any advice which guide should i follow? Is this guide good: "nh-server.github.io/switch-guide" ? Please give advice which guide should a noob follow?

Is there any guide for me to follow? I take it that adding the payload to the root of the SD card and holding Vol + selecting payloads and attempting to load results in a black screen. I'm also having problems booting into Hekate.

Yes. Provided that you have a way to chainload payloads via Hekate (which you do with SX OS, regardless of model revision).
Thats good news then. I was getting worried after getting an SX Core that I'd would be stuck with SX OS.

Like I said, personally it is not worth it. Not only are you losing official features that the original model supported such as docking and detachable Joy-Cons, but not all hacks and homebrew work on the Lite. This doesn't even take into consideration the risks of soldering it which has its fair share of consequences should anything go awry. Lastly, the price of an unpatched Switch tablet without any Joy-Cons should be around the price of a Lite if not a little more expensive.

What patches did you install? There are 2 different sets of patches that work depending on which bootloader you use which are either Hekate or Fusee hence that option.

Actually I don't have any idea about patches. I have downloaded the complete sd card data from sdsetup com, I chose "Recommended Defaults + PegaScape" and follow the guide. I'm sorry to don't have the answer to your question.

I'm getting error "SD Card is exFAT and installed HOS driver only supports FAT32! Failed to launch HOS!" when I try to boot into CFW Sysnand (Updated Switch Firmware through System Settings). Any ideas what i can do, other then reformatting the SD Car with FAT32?

First of all, you didn't properly quote my response because you have the [/QUOTE] in your reply. Secondly, you mentioned you download the patches in your original post which I will highlight in bolded text.

The error is pretty self-explanatory. You shouldn't be using exFAT in the first place because it can corrupt your SD card.

If you're using Hekate, it's a Hekate issue and there should be a fix coming later today: https://github.com/CTCaer/hekate/issues/480#issuecomment-692704520
