I don't think so. The Wii U wasn't terribly popular, and I don't see the point personally as it's a home console after all and making it slimmer would make it less comfortable to use. I really like how the gamepad feels in the hands, it's perfect the way it is IMO.
I can only agree to this. I really love the switch... but size wise the Wii U was way more comfortable!

yeah i really like the feel of the gamepad. Making it smaller would (probably) make it way less conformtable.

Yea. the only issue with the Gamepad is its battery life and, oh boy is it not heavy! (and that it caused a whole generation to think it was an accesory/portable wii but lol that's another thing) I mean I agree with u guys about how good it feels to hold kt, like it was the exact amouny of size it needed, but for people with smaller hands it's like holding a New 3DS LL (and a bit even highter than that still)

I guess this is for the best anyways, Joycons also have this big amount of
tecnology and they're smallers but they have the drift so...

My main thing is the aesthetic. The wii u gamepad looks too much like something out of 2012. And obviously it looks like that because thats the year it was made, but for 2020 it looks ridiculous. I wish maybe the front could be shaved down a bit to look less bulky. The back which matters more for ergonomics looks fine. The front however has these huge bezels that are just too big.

Yeah would have loved if Nintendo actually made a Slim Gamepad but, uh, can't blame them with how "good" they did with the console. But I guess they learned with how good the Switch feels in handheld, and it's the whole console, not a projector of what the console sends to it.

Also as people thought it was the "main" "gimmick" and controler of the console, it had no chance, while Wii U Pro Controllers sat alone in the corner, being some of the better controllers Nintendo has made along with Switch Pro.

It'd be interesting to see if the follow up to the Switch is literally a portable Wii U:
