Yes. It doesn't understand the layout of the extra partition with the VC demos on it.

Yes... NTFS. It doesn't need to be split for that. :/ You also cannot run emuNAND, NEEK, or HBC from NTFS.
You could from the GameCube's FAT32 PARTITION right?

I suppose you are not using wii Backup Manager correctly.
that's why I said in your other thread that you probably are using it wrongly, and you might need a tutorial to use that easy to use program.
I don't know why users have too many problems to use something properly.

How to transfer a game to Wii HDD with Wii Backup Manager
(The proper way !)

First, get the latest version here:
http://www.wiibackupmanager.co.uk/downloads.html

Plug your (v)Wii HDD
Launch the program.
in the "Files" tab, select "add" and "files..." and load your ISO on your computer, or "folders..." and load your folder where you have your ISO on your computer.
in the "Drive1" tab, select the partition (letter) of your (v)Wii HDD where you have your wii games.
go back to "Files" tab and check the checkbox in front of the game's name you want to install/convert/transfer to wii HDD.
select "Transfer > Drive 1"
Done :D

The proper usage of this program is "Files > Transfer > Drive 1"
or "Drive 1 > Transfer > Drive 2"

DO NOT USE
"Transfer > ISO...." or
"Transfer > cIOS..." or
"Transfer > WBFS file..."
these 3 options are converters, not installers tools. Use these 3 options to copy/convert files TO YOUR COMPUTER.

:!: IMPORTANT :!: DO NOT CHOOSE MANUALLY where to save your games on your Wii HDD !!

How to setup Wii Backup Manager properly

If you want better folder name on your Wii HDD drive, set the settings like this:

Launch the program, and do not mount any drive in "Drive1" or "Drive2" tab.

go to settings > General tab >
- Choose "Remove update partition" if not already set to that option. (required for Smash Bros!)

go to settings > FAT32/NTFS tab >
enable these options:
- select Folder layout : "Store files in separated sub-folders".
- Select Naming style : Title_[ID] pattern.
- Select Split to 4GB. (default, but in case you changed it, restore that option to 4GB)
- Enable "Automatically update storage convention on partition mount" option.

go to settings > Drives >
Check all your internal drives letters.
example, C: is your internal computer's HDD partition, you don't want to install Wii games to that hard drive, so hide it from the program.

go to settings > Startup >
If you want auto-mount of folders and HDD partition at program's launch.
I'd suggest to only auto-mount folders located on your computer, not HDD's partition as you might run the program without your hdd plugged or partition letter could be different if you have different USB devices plugged.

go to settings > Titles >
- enable "Use Wiitdb titles.txt" option.
- Select your language in "Title language" drop drown menu.
- click "Download titles.txt" button.
- enable "Use wiitdb for file and folders name" option.
- DO NOT enable other renaming options!! dangerous ! It can corrupt your games and drives.

Save the settings.
Go to main window and mount your drive ! done ! everything is renamed automatically.
If a file that I have is a wbfs file instead of an ISO, what should I do then? Would I still be able to do these steps or do I have to do something different? Just downloaded several games and realized they're all wbfs files.

yes, just do it the same way.
even if it's already in correct format (wbfs file), it may not be named correctly (for example "Mario.wbfs" instead of "SNMP01.wbfs") and following these steps will assure you that the file is renamed and placed to the correct and expected folder for the loaders.
it just prevent user's errors.
It can even split a file if it's bigger than 4GB. for example you might already have a "wbfs" file for Metroid Prime trilogy, but the file can be a single 4GB+ file, the program will take care of splitting the file in two wbfs files for you, as you can't just transfer it manually on a FAT32 partition without splitting.

but you can of course do it manually, just be sure the format is correct, the game is good (not corrupted, which is checked by the tool while transfering), and i the correct folder.
I think using the tool is easier and faster (it lists all games on both devices : PC one side, HDD on the other, with everything automated).

what do we do if wii backup manager won't load the wbfs? I have a bunch of Korean wbfs, and it loads about 90% of them. If I manually copy them to my drive and set them up, they work fine, but smash brothers is over 4 gb, and it is one of the files that wii backup manager won't load itself.

I know this is a necrobump, but why the fuck is this one of the most viewed threads here!

Because it's a top google result for the issue I described above.

second disc image should be wbf1 iirc. it will merge the two together automatically.

You're misunderstanding. The file is 1 big wbfs, and I need to split it into 2. It's like 6.8 gb, but I need to break it so that both chunks are under 4 gb and wii backup manager won't load the file, which I'm sure is fine, it seems to have issues with some Korean games. about a dozen or so of the ones I loaded show up red, but if i manually copy them, they're fine. I just can't manually copy this because it is too big for fat 32.

I know how to split the file, the problem is wii backup manager won't load the file. The file is actually fine, it just refuses to load some Korean wii games. is there another app that can be used to split these files that doesn't require the drive be a wbfs drive? I know there is like wbfs manager or something but it has to prepare the drive as a wbfs drive and I'm not going to do that.
