Hi everyone, I would like to request help on my Switch. I recently installed the SXCORE with green light successful and can boot to the SX bootloader. Problem is, once I try to boot into CFW, the nintendo logo comes up, followed by black screen. After that, I tried to load OFW also via sx bootloader, same thing happens.

I've read that when using SX OS 3.0.3, the OFW needs to be at v10.0.4 for it to work, but problem is I didn't update it before doing the installation. I never went online and left it as is ( OFW v3.0.0). Since I cannot enter OFW, I don't know how to update the Switch. I'm also not sure if updating will fix this black screen issue

Here are some info of the switch and what I've tried so far:
-switched the nand back to the original setup without desoldering and boot up hoping to enter OFW. It failed
-tried exfat and fat32, both had same result. SD card is a sandisk
-battery is at 90% and up the entire time (tried to use payload under options to hekate to verify the battery level)
-emunand and nand both backed up, emunand enabled failed.
-current OFW at 3.0.0, v1 erista
-read a suggestion to check one of the capacitors near the cpu shield, it's still in one piece
-used the SX OS V3.0.3. The SX OS 2.9.2 does not boot up to sx bootloader, as I've read others have experienced as well

Any help on (1) getting to load under CFW or (2) booting to OFW so I can update is greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much everyone!

OFW doesnt need to be on 10.0.4 afaik - but SXOS 3.0.3 apparently causes blackscreens for some users.

You can try 3.0.2
snip

Thank you for your quick reply. I tried it just now and unfortunately it still doesn't work. I tried to boot sx loader without the license.dat and it works. Then once I try to boot under OFW or CFW (with license.dat inside the SD card), both enter to black screen.

What would be the possible reason/fix for this?

Hello! You just can use the atmosphere to get into custom firmware and update there. In any case, there is another option: get the keys using Hekate, rebuild the firmware you need and then restore it using the same Hekate.

I had this issue before, It's caused by the MicroSD. I have 2 MicroSDs, 1 is Lexar another is Sandisk (originally used by the switch). Both reformatted to fat32. Only the Lexar made it past the black screen. Then I tried cloning Lexar partition to Sandisk, this way I managed to get Sandisk to pass the black screen.

He has SX Core, which is still not compatible with hekate or atmosphere
Download EaseUS Partition Master and check your SD Card, if it has two partitions. Sometimes, there are two partitions on sd card, one unused partition with maybe between 5-15mb and second used partition that you format to fat32 or exfat but still not helps because there is unused partition that prevents everything.

No one is talking about what to use SX Core chip. Its console is compatible with fusée gelée.
Simply dismantle the chip temporarily and use the fusée gelée exploit to launch the atmosphere.

Well he can't do that because he is using a patched erista.
Hence why hes using a sx core
So to quote you

No one is talking about how to use rcm and fusee gelee.
We are talking about sx core note the thread title and op. Learn to read.

If hes getting a black screen even after he unplug the chip from the flex and plugging the nand back in.

Then it's a board issue or a bag install.

If he can boon sysnand fine then it's most likely a bad emunand copy

Is there a problem with a broken capacitor? The OS SX forum discusses such a problem, unfortunately, as a beginner, I can’t insert a link.

guess no one knows for sure, because the problem is so fresh and because no information nowhere Sx core is new.

Yea theres a problem with broken capacitors. If you break those 2 by being an idiot removing the shield

Then the console wont get past joycon logo on boot

According to the Sx core faq,if you can get to the bootloader, but switch os won't boot
you should check solder point 1.Or you could be missing ExFat driver.

Just to comment on some of the suggestions and posts by some users (thank you for replying!)

- There doesn't seem to be a broken capacitor problem (I've added an image here, encircled in red)

-@squee666
"Then it's a board issue or a bag install.

-is this a bad solder as the most likely cause? does re-soldering probably fix the problem? I just find it weird that I get a greenlight, though I'm no expert in soldering. Even if the image especially on the left looks bridged, I get a 30something ohms, which is what was supposed to be expected(?) Also, on the note on bad emunand copy, does a bad emunand copy affect the OFW? Lastly, what's a bag install?

-@grimlock
I'll try to use easepartition as you suggested. I did note a small entry of around a few mb as you have described. Thank you!

Edit: Since I'm a new user I can't seem to add an image file (or link for that matter), sorry. But I really think visually it's right there, all alive and well.

Is this a case where I could've bridged to another neighbor capacitor? I'll check since this may be a cause of bad soldering on my part. Though I have green light

Thank you for the reply! I'll check this out

Delete all partitions on the memory card and create a single FAT32 partition.
Hi DPyro, I used Guiformat.exe to do the formatting. It looks like there's only one partition. Is this a correct approach?

PS. under FAT32 using this approach still renders black screen

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Check SP1 and SP2.
Hi, if I may ask, what should be the resistance I should measure across? I get the following:
-Solder point 1 (on left, measured across capacitor: 49 ohms)
-Solder point 2 (on right: measured across capacitor around 49 ohms)

between the 2 neighbor capacitors on the left side on SP1 (both bottom leed), I got around 60 ohms when measured. Is this normal?

On another note, from the bottom part of solder point 1 and the upper part of 4th capacitor on the right within the series, I get near 0 ohms.

Thank you!

A car engine can run on 3 out of 4 cylinders,so mabye the core can get green light on 3 out of 4 solder connections.
think about if you get just one bad solder that brigdes then you will get red light.
This is mabye why the faq ask you to check SP1 even if you got green light.

Just to be clear on the black screen on my switch.
Can anyone who have installed the core tell if it's normal right after testing and you got green light
and the boot dat on screen. Is it then normal that you cannot see any battery indication when the
charger is in the switch? And until you install SxOs you cannot boot into Ofw.

I had a black screen only one time. It wouldn’t do anything after pressing or holding power button. I docked it then removed it and it automatically booted into the sx menu which was strange. Give it a try. Sometimes the solution is simpler than you think
