there is no difference, except v10 has a very slight change (1 line of code introduced in v9 beta) to fix a very rare HDD detection issue. I might have encounter only one user who needed it.
they are almost identical and v8 is just, for me at least, the real "final" version as mentioned in its name, and easier to help users.
it's easier because when I see v8 I know it's Wii and good ! I don't have to care whether the user installed vWii version on Wii, or alternative version instead of normal one. it's just easier, but maybe it's personal preference, I could tell users to install v10 r52, but I fear some users would mix Wii and vWii version as it already happened.
but, if you want to know which one is better, none. there is no difference.
v10 r52 is v8 + hdd fix from v9 beta
v10 r53 is v9 beta
They were only both re-released as v10 because of the vWii version releases, making 4 different v10... compared to one.
Maybe it's only a "caprice" from me, forcing others to do as I think is best
as long as people understand what they do or what they explain to others, all is fine.
I'm even happier when helpers explain why they provide such help so end users understand what they are doing!
Soon there will be a v11 all in one (or a new cIOS named "d2xL" as in "Leseratte version"), one cIOS working on Wii, Wii-Mini and vWii which will make this v8/v9/v10 confusion history!
