(A few threads ago @Cyan made a response thread explaining IOS’ and other useful things, I made it into a pdf so other users can also understand better how the wii works, full credit goes to him)

Edit by Cyan:
Sorry, I removed your pdf file as you didn't do it yourself.
Link to the actual guide is here : https://gbatemp.net/posts/8968173

PLEASE !
DO NOT PDF'd my guides !
I edit my guides (and many of my posts, not only guides) very often and fix things and I don't like old (wrong) version being shared.
and yes, I did fix things already since you made a pdf.

If you want to promote any guides, link to them !
PLEASE DO NOT SHARE THAT FILE OUTSIDE THE FORUM EITHER ! I don't want wrong things being in the wild.

Also, you asked that my guide was made into a new thread to get more attention, but in fact it already existed for years!
I just re-re-re-re-wrote the guide, again, because having its own thread doesn't seem to be enough.
Last "own thread" explaining how the console works in detail is in the FAQ section.

thank you.

Do you have a link or am I really that blind? :P I didn't find the pdf that easy to read on mobile so I was looking for your post.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/wii-hacking-explained.501605/

it's missing pictures due to filetrip being closed.
I'll have to fix the links when I decide a new (safe and staying alive) host.

Only the first two sections are completed on this guide (the explanation how the console's internal and security is working).
The guide is unfinished for the second part, but was planed to be only a big giant FAQ for all common issues encountered and repeated over and over on the forum in order for every users to link to it instead of providing bad help.
I didn't have the time to complete it, and often just wrote helps in other thread anyway, failing what I wanted to achieve.
at least, first two parts are complete :)

I might complete it a little with the "what cIOS are" and "which one you want" sections based on what I wrote in that other thread.

It's not a detailed guide, it's written with "newbies" in mind, using oversimplificated explanation. if you want real and detailed explanation, there are Wiibrew and https://hackmii.com/ for that ;)
The purpose of the guide is/was only to lessen the number of help thread posted here, because we had tons of identical questions posted every weeks.

you are not the first to mention that site. but why is it so hard to find information on imgur?
their FAQ and help is all about community and their interface, no (easy to find?) mention to whether you can direct link a picture without using their gallery, or how long they keep a file, or how many bandwidth for direct linking, etc.
I remember lot of hosts had issue direct linking on the forum, like "bandwidth exceeded" etc.
It seems the default upload mode is "new post", and then you have to delete image from post to make them private. all the website is based on public community and meme posting.

I don't want a gallery sharing site, just a simple private direct link host.
I have a server I can access through FTP, but no management interface. FTP should be enough, I just have to properly set folders and image name, it would be hard to do it later (like having to re-edit all guides if I change anything).

there is no difference, except v10 has a very slight change (1 line of code introduced in v9 beta) to fix a very rare HDD detection issue. I might have encounter only one user who needed it.
they are almost identical and v8 is just, for me at least, the real "final" version as mentioned in its name, and easier to help users.
it's easier because when I see v8 I know it's Wii and good ! I don't have to care whether the user installed vWii version on Wii, or alternative version instead of normal one. it's just easier, but maybe it's personal preference, I could tell users to install v10 r52, but I fear some users would mix Wii and vWii version as it already happened.

but, if you want to know which one is better, none. there is no difference.
v10 r52 is v8 + hdd fix from v9 beta
v10 r53 is v9 beta
They were only both re-released as v10 because of the vWii version releases, making 4 different v10... compared to one.

Maybe it's only a "caprice" from me, forcing others to do as I think is best ;)
as long as people understand what they do or what they explain to others, all is fine.
I'm even happier when helpers explain why they provide such help so end users understand what they are doing!

Soon there will be a v11 all in one (or a new cIOS named "d2xL" as in "Leseratte version"), one cIOS working on Wii, Wii-Mini and vWii which will make this v8/v9/v10 confusion history!

direct link a picture without using their gallery
Yes you can. I don't know if you need an account though. Don't click "share to gallery" or "share album" though, just wait till it's uploaded and click on Post -> Hidden, open the album URL, right click the image -> show image and you get the direct i.imgur.com link.
You can also use abload.de - it's in German though. Just choose images ("Bilder von der Festplatte hinzufügen"), tick the checkbox and click "Abload". On the upload finished site it will open a modal once, just click on "Ich habe bereits gespendet" ("I have already donated") and you can find the direct link under "Direktlink". They don't have any limits and exist for over 10 years. Never had any problems with it.

I want cleaning IOS. IOS cleaning advice?

Because I'm a little afraid to touch that.

I extracted the IOS from an ISO of one of the last games released on WII.

I'm waiting for your advice before I do anything.

The "sysCheck.csv" should be Drag and Drop on the ModMii.exe or Shortcut.
Did you installed ModMii to the System Drive C: as Admin ?
Maybe try to install it on another Drive/Partition.

Thank you.:)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It has to be the "ModMii.exe " or "ModMiiSkin.exe" please:
