TL;DR, my Wii U gamepad has a really weird issue with the volume slider and right joystick

So a couple days ago, I went to my local GameStop to buy a Wii U (my switch was banned, I had an urge to play Splatoon, and didn't have enough for another Switch). The Wii U and the gamepad both looked pretty beat up, but I didn't say anything because all it was were scratches and a crack on the LCD.

Anyways, I got home and booted the thing up, all was well, and I got to play Splatoon. It was only the day after, when using the gamepad alone (since I previously used headphones from my monitor/splitter), I tried turning the volume up/down, the slider did absolutely nothing. The volume was the same at a mid-level. I took a look at the inside, more specifically at the slider, to find that it was still attached to the board. At that point I was considering turning it back in to get a new gamepad, because I was still within the 30 day limit to do so.

But while idling in the Homebrew Menu (I'd installed Haxchi, blah blah blah) I noticed pressing the right stick up and down seemed to adjust the volume (there had been no apparent internal modifications when I looked at it, just in case it was some weird mod a previous owner made). I thought that was weird, and what was weirder was that I was experiencing stick drift seemingly out of nowhere (up/down drift). I know it isn't a problem with joystick centers being offset at boot, because I already checked.

I have no clue what this could be, because I could already barely find anything about either of the two problems. I'm going to try and swap out my gamepad back at GameStop, but until then I remain with an odd, messed up but functional Wii U gamepad, and I'd like to ask any of you to please tell me what the heck is going on. :nayps3:

My Wii U is having the same problem. The slider button is broken and the only way to fix it is changing the whole PCB. I noticed this and I it looks odd, you are the only one that had the same problem as am I.

I can't change the gamepad, my Wii U is used and Nintendo doesn't have assistance here (I live in Brazil). I hope someone find a solution.

Hello,

A very nice tutorial ==>

I'm not talking about the plastic button on the gamepad, I'm taking about the actual switch on the PCB of the gamepad. It's broken, I can't adjust the volume even with a needle. And the weird part is that the right analog controls the volume when I push up or down. While playing BOTW is really annoing.

The OP have the same problem as I, but he send it to replace. Nintendo doesn't have assistance where I live, so I cant really fix it. And I was wondering if anyone else have it.
