Posting a System Check

Users can link to this guide so they don't have to write instructions on posting a SysCheck over and over. This is not a place to post your SysChecks, it's just a guide.

Creating a SysCheck.
  1. Extract the contents of SysCheckME.zip to the apps folder on your SD card or USB Hard Drive.
  2. Insert your SD card or USB Hard Drive into your Wii and turn it on.
    1. If you don't have an SD card or USB, you can still launch SysCheck as long as the Wii has WiFi. Just open SysCheck's boot.dol with ModMii (e.g. drag and drop syscheck's boot.dol onto ModMii.exe)
  3. Load the Homebrew Channel.
  4. Launch SysCheck ModMii Edition and choose to scan all IOS's.
  5. If SysCheck is stuck on one IOS for more than 5 seconds, it's frozen. Make not of the number it froze on and see Troubleshooting.
  6. Once it's done, press HOME to exit.
    1. Or Press A to upload your syscheck to the cloud. This is useful if you don't have an SD card or USB Hard Drive.
Posting your SysCheck.
  1. Turn off your Wii and put your SD card or USB Hard Drive into your computer.
  2. Open up "device:\syscheck.csv" with notepad
  3. Press Ctrl+A to select everything. Now press Ctrl+C to copy everything.
  4. Make a new post (in the appropriate thread) and create spoiler tags. Click between the "][" like so:
    SysCheckSpoilersNew.gif

  5. Press Ctrl+V to paste the contents of syscheck.csv between the spoiler tags.
  6. Save your post.
Troubleshooting
  1. Open up the SysCheck ModMii Edition meta.xml file with a text editor, preferably Notepad++ or Wordpad.
  2. Look for the "<arg>--skipIOS=0</arg>" line near the bottom of the file.
  3. Change the "0" to the IOS SysCheck HDE froze on.
  4. Save your changes and try running it again. If you are prompted about loosing format changes, save anyway.
  5. If it freezes on another IOS, duplicate the previously mentioned line in meta.xml and add the new IOS number.

Hello.:)

Hi! I need a little help. I run the syscheck, it completes the checking stuff but I don't get any logs on my sd card D:

Nothing on the Root form the SD Card ?
Did you checked all IOSes ?
Did it show the Report when you press "A" on your Wii Motion Controller after the Check is finished ?
Your SD Card´s Write Protection Switch is disabled (Positon UP) please ?
P1370060.JPG
The sysCheck Application is running from the SD Card (not from an USB Device ) ?
Which Type (microSD with Adapter or Regular) did you use please ? How is the Size of it please ?

Please be so kind and check this Points.:)

Thank you for your Assistance.:)

Can you maybe try another, smaller and regular SD Card (non Adapter and around 4 - 16 GB in Size/FAT32 formatted) please ?
Thank you.:)

It's freezing on IOS30. I did what the first post said to do (I had to add the line myself, since there wasn't any "<arg>--skipIOS=0</arg>" like it said it should have), but it's still freezing.

Please post the contents of your meta.xml file in code tags.

It should look like this
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
	<app version="1">
		<name>SysCheck HacksDen Edition</name>
		<coder>JoostinOnline, Double_A, R2-D2199, Nano</coder>
		<version>2.4.0 HD Edition</version>
		<release_date>20151012000000</release_date>
		<short_description>System Checker HacksDen Edition</short_description>
<long_description>Homebrew application which does several checks on installed IOS and custom IOS:
    - Base IOS Detection
    - vIOS Detection
    - Beer Ticket
    - IOS Stub
    - Fake Signature (aka Trucha Bug)
    - ES_DiVerify (aka ES_Identify)
    - Flash Access
    - NAND Access
    - Boot2 Access
    - USB 2.0

sysCheck generates a report on the root of the SD card (sd:/sysCheck.csv).

The author can not be held responsible for any damage sysCheck might cause!

Could you be more specific? Do you mean what IOS the HBC is using? Or your System Menu?

I'm not sure if I used the correct phrase. Maybe I should have said "What IOSes and cIOSes I have installed". I just want to run a SysCheck before doing anything rash. And besides, I might run into more problems in the future and would like to have SysCheck actually work.

You can use SGM just fine without anything special installed.

Try just scanning a single IOS to see if it generates a report.

Isn't it supposed to only work with cIOS 249 installed? When I tried to use it to export/import saves it gave me a "Unable to setUID" error, and I read that might be the way to fix it.

Anyway, I did what you said. Scanned another IOS that wasn't IOS30. It generated a report just fine. Then I tried scanning IOS30, and it hanged.

That may be. I've been out of the homebrew scene for many years. Most applications have been updated to work with AHB access as long as you launch them from the HBC. Assuming you have a Wii (not a Wii U), just use ModMii to mod your Wii in a standard way. That will include IOS249.

So I messed with Priiloader settings, and now not only does SaveGame Manager GX work as intended, SysCheck is also properly skipping problematic IOSes. I'm gonna post the report in case there's anything I should fix or update:

So I messed with Priiloader settings, and now not only does SaveGame Manager GX work as intended, SysCheck is also properly skipping problematic IOSes. I'm gonna post the report in case there's anything I should fix or update:
Code:
SysCheck HDE v2.4.0 HacksDen Edition by JoostinOnline, Double_A, R2-D2199, and Nano
...runs on IOS61 (rev 4890).
Region: NTSC-U (original region: KOR)
System Menu 4.0U (v417)
Priiloader installed
Drive date: 02.13.2007
Homebrew Channel 1.1.2 running on IOS61
Hollywood v0x21
Console ID: 97797571
Console Type: Wii
Shop Channel Country: Brazil (16)
Boot2 v4
Found 81 titles.
Found 45 IOS on this console. 5 of them are stubs.

SysCheck generates the date based on what your settings say the day is. The date is probably set incorrectly in your Wii settings.

As for things you should fix, you've got the trucha bug patch on almost every IOS. That's from a very outdated method of softmodding. If you want stuff updated, do a complete remod with ModMii.

Also be aware that you have a Korean Wii. Unless you use KoreanKii or use a patched IOS80 (included in a ModMii mod), updating past System Menu 4.1 will brick your Wii.

Is there any way I could get a step-by-step tutorial on how to do this? I would like to remod my Wii and update the IOSes and System Menu (to 4.3).
Also, will doing this erase my Miis, Save Data and Wii configuration?

As I said, use ModMii. That will walk you through everything. You only want to update to 4.1 though. There's no benefit to having anything past that.

All of your configurations, save data, and Miis will be saved.
