I updated to RA 1.8.8 and now my GUI is stuck on rgui no matter what I do. Is there any way to fix this?

What do you mean by "no matter what i do"? What exactly did you try? Delete all RA configs and launch RA again. I updated to 1.8.8 and had no problems.

Apparently this happens when I change the video driver from gl to switch. This also causes it to crash when I close content.

you don't touch video driver settings on switch RA

Thanks! I'd read somewhere that switching from gl to switch would improve performance.

When I use 16:9 adjusted on the new build it's super stuttery. Is there a way to fix that?

It's Mupen64plus-next, and it happens with pretty much every game I've tried.

I'm not OCing, but this didn't happen previously without OCing.
Reset configs to default. I'm not an n64 expert, but i do have a dozen of games and most of them run perfectly fine without any stuttering. Make sure to use title redirection for RA. Some games like goldeneye just don't run well.... Don't expect 100% compatibility on switch n64.

...And if you didn't have same problems on previous builds, then just revert back to one of the previous builds?

Thanks for the reply!

I did reset defaults. You don't have any stuttering with 16:9 adjusted? Do you know what non-default settings you use?

Yeah, I may have to revert back. I'm really surprised OoT is stuttering so badly. I would think that would be one that would run pretty well. And it does in 4:3, just not 16:9 adjusted.

I'm using 960x540, 16:9, fbemu off and OoT runs perfectly. I don't know the difference between 16:9 and 16:9 adjusted, but i tested both and it ran absolutely the same (i did relaunch the game to apply the settings).

RA 1.8.8, latest mupen.

16:9 just stretches the screen, but 16:9 adjusted draws past the 4:3 borders to give it true widescreen.

I deleted 1.8.8 and put 1.8.5 back on, and it runs just fine. Argh. I wish I knew what the problem was!

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
