Hacking Sx Core and Sx Lite , test Units Received

That is a damned lot of stores. Jesus.

Bunch of stores around Europe went down since yesterday as well... Websites showing 'account suspended' message. Hope they will re-host somewhere else :unsure:

Was getting all excited seeing test samples and now I'm little bit nervous...
 
What they are not telling you is that the factory in Taiwan was served with an injunction banning them from sale , manufacture or distribution of these items.

Any monies paid from now on will be lost and if you have paid out for a preorder do a chargeback quick as its the only way you will see your funds again.

Where do you guys get all this informations from? I can't find anything about this on the internet

i am confused by now. what i typed below is the actual status as far as we know it?

samples have been sent. some received it. someone modded a standard switch with the chip. but not the switch portable? still no video proof of the modchip that was send actually started any software at all, except a loader from sx? nintendo ninajs jumped in to stop selling the chips and end result, we still have no proof at all that the modchip testers received, actually do what it suppose to do?

as if nintendo can shut down a factory in taiwan of all places
if they could have done that they would have shut them down when wii mod chips existed and ds flashcarts
instead of going and getting imports banned/hitting the retailers

if they could stop the factories they wouldnt need to hit resellers.

switch portable is modded, i mean they can attempt to hit them over SXOS but they very late to the game on it.
the reason they doing it now is because last time they just released hardware revisions and stopped it early.

Now 55Million switches and counting are vulnerable and unless they release new hardware they cant stop it

Hmm if they really shut down the factory hopefully they at least do some writeup of the exploit..
they could just more production to China , i doubt they were using Taiwan manufacturing anyways
it makes more sense these are being produced in Shenzhen unless they opted for Taiwan because of the virus

I don't know why you are that worried about Nintendo's lawsuit... that only concerns to USA... whereas we can buy things from China, we can order these products... Nintendo tries to put doors in a field

is literally no one understand that the copper square is just a really shit sticker, you can peel it off and you get better thermal conductivity directly to the heatpipe. also the amount of thermal for that chip excessive.

and with shim removed there is enough pressure to screw the heatpipe directly to the die

another note is not really needed to keep the metal shielding it only supplied minor heat disappation because of the triple layer of thermal gunk they used to console

when i get my modchip gonna keep it gone for good and use a clear back for full view of the board.
I do hope the led can be disabled at least for the chip

This kind of shielding is usually put in place to manage EMI between components, so it is either protecting the CPU from EMI from other components or vice-versa. This helps prevent stuff like electric noise in the headphone output, so it's not really part of the thermal solution. The copper layer is probably a compromise so they can still have the shield while maintaining decent thermal transfer to the heatpipe.

Bend the chip shield and then poke the cpu with solder gun, this is gonna lead to a lot of dead switches who try to tinker with, nope it’s totally not noob friendly, you gotta be the guy at Asian level who can work on iPhone repair to be qualified to mod your switch.

i mean its only really there for fcc regulations it doesnt really serve any real purpose
also if nintendo wasnt using it as a heat spreader they wouldnt have put thermal compound directly on the heatpipe touching the emi in the first place

I see what you mean and I agree, it would be great if we could have no shield at all, but that could lead to other issues.

I don't know how fcc regulations work or what is required from this kind of device, but the shielding does serve a real purpose. The most obvious for the user would probably be preventing an annoying electric buzzing noise on your headphones.

The designers would probably prefer to have no shielding too. It would be one less complication to deal with when laying out the PCB, and one less component to increase manufacturing cost, but without it there could be issues caused by excessive EMI, so the thermal compound is there to help minimize the thermal impact of the shielding, since they couldn't get rid of it entirely.

EDIT: the purpose of EMI shielding is more obvious on cheaply built electronics, like entry-level laptops and phones, though even those seem to have been improving somewhat since the last few years. It isn't rare for such devices to produce weird hissing/buzzing noises on headphones, specially low impedance in-ear ones.

Thanks a lot. I was looking for a video like that. I pre-ordered mine since day one. Now I finally feel confident it was the right choice. I can finally gauge the difficulty level of the installation and it's definetly something I can do.

Did you make that video?
