Hi, there! Whenever I try to run Pokemon Emerald on my 3DS using the GBAEmu4DS emulator, it doesn't seem to be working. I have an R4i Gold 3DS Plus. I tried using a game_config.txt and I'm not sure how to run SRAM.

Here's the main error I usually get:
arm7init
irqinit
emulatedbiosstart
ndsMode
jump to (02134000)
unknown OP
R=0 ((which goes up to R=15?))
And a bunch of other numbers and text. I uploaded a picture for easy reference.

If anyone can help, that would be much appreciated!

To run Pkmn Emerald on your setup you have to use this version of gbarunner2. Find out how to use this app by going here. You are on a flash card and therefore it counts as being on a DS, afaik.

Still I would also strongly recommend you to use cfw like Shardow#1 said, since you'll see so much improvement with everything.

I hadn't even heard of GBAEmu4DS before. Does it work very well?

It is possible to run mGBA through Picchax, which does not make any persistent changes to your 3DS (unlike CFW), but everyone seems to think it doesn't work very well, so I'm surprised to hear there is another option.

If Picchax is anything like Soundhax, mGBA runs noticeably choppy compare to having sighax/CFW. Same goes for bubble's emulators.

gbaemu4DS is a DS homebrew, and it runs through a DS flashcard.
It's no perfect, but in 2013 when it was first introduced, it was an improvement for playing GBA games from flashcard on the DS(i).

A lot of the games seem to work pretty well. They have a compatibility list, and Emerald was listed as not working, but I saw another thread here and it worked for them using the game_config.txt.

I thought Picchax was also CFW? Under Luma?

Nope, Picchax is strictly a "userland" exploit – if you clear your Piccross save data (and delete a couple of support files from your SD card), it will be as if it never existed. Among other things, it is useful for accessing some of the older techniques used to install boot9strap, though the current suggested techniques no longer require it.

(In fact, *hax exploits don't work at all after you install Luma.)
