I'd assume this is more work than really worthwhile to implement given it's something I doubt many people would be interested in.

That being said, it is a genuinely nice idea. Good job on that one, you have my support lol

We have one already, indeed technically two.
It is called the reply button or the quote button.

From where I sit the only thing it would help serve is "you like this" dilemma in response to someone starting a thread and their day plays like an old school country song wherein death and destruction was enough to make a Rambo film directed by Quentin Tarantino say steady on there lad.

That said my opinions on the likes system (get rid of it, first thing I would do if I took over the forum or maybe second if losing post counts was going to be easier) have previously been documented.

I wish I could leave a note with a like ("thanks, this old answer helped" or "great question")
it might help declutter threads without derailing main discussion

Some time ago, there was a suggestion from a user to add a reason of why a thread got locked/closed by mods.
I think it is a good idea so to provide more clear information to GBATempers (users).

But this (a "Like" with a comment), imo, is not necessary as we can actually post an answer and add a greeting/thanks/like to our comment, if we don't want to add a comment then we just click the "Like" icon and that's it, that's the "Like" icon purpose, nothing more. We need to keep it simple, and as clear (informative) as possible.
