Some years ago, around 2016 I was playing the April Fools version just fine if my memory doesn't fail me.
But after realizing that I had to use the Wiimote I uninstalled that game until just now.
I've downloaded Mario War again from that site, they always has the latest version in their servers.

Again, you still need to register in order to download.

Ok so I got around to individually installing/testing each version (1.3, 1.4, and 1.7) from the scene beta site, and all three versions freeze at the credit screen, IMG_2588.JPG then black screen IMG_2589.JPG which reboots into the system menu. Any thoughts on why this might be happening?

I certainly don't know. I'm using the same version I gave you (from Scenebeta, where you put my username and password) and I don't have any problems with it.

1.- Under which cIOS is your Homebrew Channel running? It must be cIOS 80.

2.- Do you have another SD card? Have you tried to put that homebrew in another card? SD must be formatted to FAT32

3.- Are you using a Wii Motion Plus? This Wiimote is known to cause trouble with it as it can't support it.

EDIT: I've double checked the Scenebeta site and it says this:

Version 1.4
  • Added USB 2.0 support via ios58

Sorry for the late response, I just found this replay now. To answer your questions...

1. I installed the latest cIOS, which is 10 (although I see beta 52 and beta 53 in the CIOS folder and I'm not sure what that means).
2. I do have a spare 2GB SD card, but I know my main (and current) card is a 32GB formatted to fat32.
3. I'm always careful NOT to use my motion plus controllers when modding for the same support issue you mentioned.

Sounds like my main issue is cIOS. Perhaps I need to install another cIOS in a different block? And then install SMW on that block?

No. You don't have to install Super Mario War under any cIOS.
It means that if you have Super Mario War on a USB you have to update ios58 in order for your Wii to be able to load Super Mario War from USB.
I'm using an SD card and maybe that's why I'm not having troubles loading this homebrew.

Hmmm..... I've been using my SD card as well, and I'm not trying to load SMW from the USB.

Ah that's strange indeed.
All this time I've been thinking that you've been using a USB.

I certainly don't know what the problem might be as I'm using an SD card as well and I'm using the Super Mario War version from Scenebeta (the site where I shared my Username and Password with you)

All I can' think of is that it might be a cIOS issue.
Unfortunately I don't know much about it, so you must create a thread asking why this particular homebrew isn't working for you, paste a SysCheck and wait until someone with cIOS knowledge tells you what's the problem.

Thank you for all your help. I've downloaded all versions from that site and saved them for a later time once I get more info or more develops. I don't know about the SysCheck... is that through the Wii System Settings?

No. It's Homebrew Software that literally tells you which IOS and cIOS you have installed on your Wii.
This will let you know if you have to update or replace certain cIOS.

Awesome! I'll try this out tonight. This will be the ninth version I download and try. I hope this game is worth the hype. Thank you friend!

*Update: I was so anxious to try so I did just now, and unfortunately, it did the same thing all the others do. Boot up to the credits screen, freeze, dump screen, reboot.
