Cemu emulator updated to version 1.17.3

There’s only one thing more stable than Nintendo firmware updates: the stability in how regularly Cemu updates. That’s right, it’s time once more for an update to your favorite Wii U emulator. This latest version adds numerous bugfixes, ranging from less crashes to better compatability. For those that were on Windows 10’s 1709 update and couldn’t get the emulator to run, a workaround has been implemented, while custom texture errors have a lower chance to crash Cemu overall. The full changelog is available below, for those interested in all the small details.

# Cemu detailed changelog for 1.17.3
# Patreon release date: 2020-02-28
# Public release date: 2020-03-06

general: Added a workaround for Cemu not launching on Windows 10 1709
general: Added button for checking online mode requirements to account settings

gamelist: Improved identification of updates/dlc
gamelist: Games which are identified as an update will again show up in the list, but only if no base game is found
This is a workaround for modified game dumps where the update data was merged into the base game. Please always use the File -> Install update/dlc option in Cemu
gamelist: Fixed a bug where a game could appear more than once if multiple game paths were set

CPU/JIT: Code translation (PPC -> x64) is now done asynchronously on a separate thread
The previous implementation would do translation synchronously on the CPU emulation thread.
This could lead to micro stutter in situations where a game hit a lot of new code (e.g. on first loading screen)

OpenGL/Vulkan: Added a safeguard to prevent crashes when games try to use a depth texture with an invalid format
Vulkan: Fixed an issue where depth to color texture copies would use the wrong shader

coreinit: Fixed a crash in OSCalendarTimeToTicks (#268)

nn_boss: Fixed SpotPass always assuming an id of 80000001 instead of using the one selected by the user

Note:
(#xx) refers to bug tracker issues resolved by this change. See http://bugs.cemu.info/projects/cemu/

I am suprised that they still want to develop this emulator because let's be honest nobody care's about Wii u anymore. But Hey if we can have Vita emulator than we sure can have Wii u emulator.
I wish them good luck.

people will always want this if only for breath of the wild with graphics packs and those other zelda hd remakes

Been thinking of having a mess with Cemu. My games are in the format needed to install them using wup installer. What is the easiest way to convert them to run in cemu?

When you see how many paying Patreons there are, it's no surprise they want to keep developing it.

I mean, the Wii U has great games that never got ported to the PC. Also their patreon tells a different story to whether people care (1,318 patrons and $5,434 a month as of writing this).

Yes, I was excited for a while until I realized Wii u really lacked of exclusives. I use it to play Mario 3d world for a while, after that, I haven't revisited the emulator for a long time. Still, cemu is an amazing achievement.

Maybe for you.. Not for me. Zelda and Mario (action/adventure minus racing and monopoly game) were great and fan of mine. Just not enough games for me so Wii U sucks big time, really.

I recently started playing BOTW on CEMU and it is great. High rez, long fogless draw distances with high quality textures out to the horizon, and also I'm Linkle with a cucco for gliding.

Let's be honest, no one really cares about you anymore you. A LOT of people donate to keep this emulator going, and the Wii U had a LOT of great titles that people like you don't have the ability to appreciate. The VC content on the Wii U is something that cannot be understated either, as a LOT of great work has been done by NERD. I often find myself loving my Wii U more than my Switch.

The Wii U simply put was not a bad system. Neither was the library.
That is the main reason we have seen so many ports make their way to the Nintendo Switch.
But Nintendo made it look to gimmicky for one, did not market it well, and the gamepad functionality was ok at best.

As for Cemu, I still can see it's appeal as a Wii U owner.
Always keep in mind not everything has to be for everyone ;)

well... nobody cares about the wii-u CONSOLE, maybe its true, but is good to have an emulator that we can play the few exclusives, when we feel like it, without the need to buy one wii-u just for that. now, if Nintendo re-launch those games on switch (or a future console) that's a different story... but even then, for preservation, is awesome that cemu exists.

By your logic we wouldn't have decent emulation of any retro console because they're too old and "no one cares about them".

The Wii u had some... questionable choices, but it was a really solid console

Development has come a long way with this emulator, and while my Wii U is now mostly used as a way to stream Plex, it had some real gems on it. As a geek that likes to find odd yet cool ways to play games, cemu is really fun to play with. I use bigscreen, a VR headset, and reshade with 3d shaders to have the ability to play the Wii U games on a massive screen in 3D, 4k ultrawide Wii U is pretty dope too, plus the ability to stream games locked to the system, ie. Xenoblade X, to my switch is actually pretty great. I honestly use cemu more than my actual Wii U console these days. Not to mention the fact that emulators are the greatest way to preserve old games and when the Wii U is long gone and 8k becomes the norm, the hard work of the team behind cemu will give us these updates to keep the Wii U library playable and somewhat up to date with future tech.

Way to shit on emulator developers. Let's see you learn how to program and reverse engineer dead consoles. What's that? You don't know how? Then zip it and take your negativity BS 4chan with the rest of the trolls.

A big NO for Breath of the Wild - a mediocre survival open-world game, with all of its hindrances, frustrations, repetition, emptiness and boredom - while a Yes for the actually fantastic The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD.

I just cannot comprehend how so many people can enjoy something so worthless, something that doesn't respect the player's time, something that doesn't respect the Legend of Zelda name it bears. For me, it's just as repulsive as Minecraft - no real direction, plenty of boredom, mechanics that need to be torn out and incinerated.

i mean, you can have your opinion, but most people aren't going to share it.
