Hi there,

I have a question that I hope to help me understand the workings of CFW.

Wanting to install new titles on 9.1 with AMS 10.2 & Hekate 5.1 I kept getting errors allover with a lot of NSPs. I read that 9.1 was problematic so I downgraded to 9.0.1 hoping this would solve the issue.

But Awoo and Goldleaf both throw up NCA errors and Goldleaf even suggests that the Sigpatches are not in order.

So I downloaded the latest "working ones" (both manually and through the Sigpatche Updates App) but the result remains the same.

The strange thing is I discovered some NSPs do install fine and currently installed games work fine too.

Do I just have bad luck with the NSPs I downloaded? Am I overlooking something?

Would updating Hekate to 5.1.1 help?

Any information is welcome as I am puzzled by why some NSPs install fine and others do not.

Thanx!

if you got the games from one of the dark sites, one of them seems to have a lot of corrupted ncas. I verify all game with nsp verify, and it says that they're bad instantly. I haven't exploited my system as of yet, so I only have that to go on. anyway, I got them elsewhere and they do verify. there's a slight few kilobyte difference between the bad and the good ones, so I don't know what happened. jdownloader may have screwed something up.

Unfortunately I cannot run Verify NSP due to lack of access to Windows but the fact you mentioned a lot of those downloads can be dubious perhaps points me in the right direction.

Currently redownloading some titles that refused to install.

Thank you very much, will keep updated!

it's just a guess based on my limited knowledge, but they do fail instantly like there's some sort of checksum. however, failure is instant, which suggests that it may not be a checksum that's checked. I use nsp verify to very nsp files (doesn't work with xci), rename and trim with switch backup manager, shrink or convert with nca rebuilder, and verify the files are safe with nx info. it's a very long and involved process. I've only downloaded games I own. unfortunately, most of them are European, when my games and saves are American. I don't know if there's any way to convert them.

Still no luck it seems after a redownload, perhaps the NSP I got was wrong yet again.

Included both the errors from Awoo and Goldleaf, perhaps this will shine some light on the situation.

here's what I have for that game:

you could try checking the checksum. as you can see, it's been converted from an xci (not from me though).

It seems that more titles do not work than actually do work. I am using ns-usbloader on my Mac and Awoo on the Switch. Perhaps this combo is the culprit? I am at my wit's end.

Have you tried a different installer. Lithium or sx installer and enabled install unsigned code.

Try using Awoo, disable the checks in the settings.

You might also need to use both signatures from Joomie86 and The-4n.
I use them both, just to make sure it always works ;)

Also the "broken file" download you talk about. If it's from a certain darkplace, it's known that some of mr. snails files can count as corrupt because he sometimes repacks them. This file might not be correctly packed then.

I did disable the NCA check but that still did not help. While I am sure the games installed before with Tinfoil (the old version). It doesn't work anymore as it doesn't take any input. None of the installers seem to work at all.

I have this odd feeling I am overlooking something so very simple...

Lithium will not work either as I cannot seem to make contact with it. both Putty and ns-usbloader aknowledge a Switch is connected but no info comes through.

Try using nsusbloader 0.7 this is the last working version for me...

It also depends on what cfw your using. I'm pretty sure atmosphere has blacklisted Lithium & blawar tinfoil. This also could be memory card corruption. I've also heard if the nsp have long names they will not install. Have you tried scene releases.
