And there are a fair few other games without magic/weird monsters/etc., but why do you want realism in a game when games are a way to escape boring reality and enjoy yourself?

Your question's fuel for an entire thread. My take: games are (or at least: they can be) more than just an escapade from reality. They can teach, sensitize and convince in ways that are way more engaging than other means. It's not even a matter of fun vs education either, as a well made game takes these hurdles without too much obstacles.
Besides...it's rather ironic that most role playing games don't so much have you playing a role rather than being a blank slate that you can fill in.

OTC is pretty good, even if not my kind of game, they are giving it for free since the expansion comes out soon so they want more people to buy it... GoNNER looks good but first I hear of it, have seen screenshots somewhere before though.
