Slow day uh?

TL: DR leaked FFVII Remake FW 6.50 demo package, decrypted with distributed passcode, patched to run on FW 5.05 consoles.

First of all hold your horses, no big breakthrough, the demo was distributed with the passcode so from what I understood the available passcode is only useful for decrypting this demo only, nonetheless it's another PoC on what we knew about "backporting" newer titles to older FWs.

I'm not going to link anything, as I think even distributing a demo outside Sony official channels falls in a gray area (you can still look in a dark place tough ^__^; ) and I think you'll be able to find it with a search engine or perusing the usual suspects on Twitter. Having wrote that, allegedly there's an available fpkg that's playable on FW 5.05 even if the demo originally it required FW 6.50 to run. I'm not in the loop but the demo isn't officially available yet, not a FFVII fan...

I really hope so b/c FFVII pretty much determines the faith of my 5.50 ps4 pro to be updated or not.
But then again a demo is not the same as a full game.

Unfortunately it has nothing to do with a post FW 5.05 new kexploit, it's only another confirmation that newer titles can be run on a lower FW.

Its something like when we only had 4.05 kernel exploit, some guys dumped horizon zero dawn even it requires 4.07 or older kernel expoit iirc 2 years ago. İf so, dump spiderman/rdr 2 please:creep:

Yips, password to decrypt was still in the pkg,so yea......................

Hope they also will forget with the full release :)

So are there any other > 5.07 games that are like this?
There was a rumor that someone was able to dump Spiderman, but I haven't seen any links. The only reason we got this demo, was due to someone either at Sony or SE, left the passcode within the pkg. Passcodes aren't normally visible or shared to the public. So we got lucky in this case.

Interesting I thought this ran on dev/test kits only but somehow manged to get this working on 5.05. I will always say the PS4 hacking scene did not fully tap into the consoles capabilities. Heres hoping sometime this year a newer exploit is out and we can tap into the PS2 emulation more. I know of many devs having legit PS2 classics waiting to be dumped & data mined.

Ps2 emulation is already a thing its just that some games are glitchy like Xenosaga for example. Heck you can even add codebreaker cheats with the said ps2 game as an pkg. I just downloaded the demo VII probably the the biggest demo Iver seen 20GB

When I read the tweets that a recent demo was decrypted it picked my interest but it waned soon after it was clarified that the passcode was distributed with it.

I suspect it was a QA build or similar, leaked by an individual inside the mastering chain. If it wasn't clear I have no clues about console titles manufacturing.

Spider-Man/Detroit/RDR2 leaks are legit, but I heard it was via zero day usb sploit. Possibly app driven entry point, I doubt it was webkit, but now we have <=6.80.. who knows..

FFVII and others (yes more) seems to have been obtained from a QA server, as @MostlyUnharmful mentioned. I know there is a bounty for the P5 builds.

I really want dreams.. lol.

I only heard about Spiderman not the other two but you are more in the loop, anyway I don't think they were waiting for a WebKit entry point, in my opinion a reasonable ETA for something new is still a few years after PS4 EOL... ^__^

Well, leaks be leaks. We seem to be getting trickles of stuff from above. I still don’t know from who exactly. But we seem to be getting more and more.

It will be awesome once PS4 scene is open for business again. All those discoveries waiting to be found. That's a reference to your PSP emulator discovery @KiiWii
