Hi all..since i have 2 partitions on my sd (ofw & cfw both running 9.0.1) how would i update JUST the ofw side partition so i can keep playing my cart games online? Is it safe (autoRCM ON) to update with Nintendos 9.1.0 update when prompted to update?

If you have sysNAND and emuNAND setups, you can update the sysNAND with the official firmware update.
If you want to update the emuNAND setup, you can update it with ChoiDujourNX to avoid burning fuses.

I think you are probably a bit confused here, for now and as far as I know it is not possible to boot stock horizon (what you call ofw) under an emuMMC partition. So the first partition of your SD does not contain your ofw, it just acts as the regular sd card you put on your switch, and the ofw is actually on your sysNAND. The second partition contains your emuMMC, that you boot under cfw, if I understand correctly.

If you have sysNAND and emuNAND setups, you can update the sysNAND with the official firmware update.
If you want to update the emuNAND setup, you can update it with ChoiDujourNX to avoid burning fuses.

Be careful though, if you update your sysNAND through the official firmware update autoRCM will be disabled and your fuses will be burnt upon restarting your switch. For now the only way to update your sysNAND without burning fuses is to temporarily boot it under CFW and update through ChoiDuJourNX, but if you're not careful you take the risk of getting banned, especially if you don't have a european account where you can disable telemetry.

With AutoRCM fuse checks are always bypassed, updating through the official method does not burn fuses AFAIK, the fuses are only burned once you boot stock FW on a higher version, which is not possible with AutoRCM.
The same also applies to emuNAND whether AutoRCM is on or off.

I doubt it because as I was saying it is not possible to boot emuMMC with the stock option of hekate, it just gets stuck on a black screen. So teknokidd would have to boot the first partition with atmosphere too, not making it an ofw partition at all. Maybe they do that, never started any homebrew or installed any NSP on this emuMMC partition and didn't get banned so far, but it seems unlikely.

More info then: 128gb sd with autoRCM ON... 2 partitions - 1 for cfw the 2nd for stock sysnand - im booting hekate v5.0.2...Launch options CFW (EMUMMC) or Stock (SYSNAND)....using Kosmos Atlas with Sept Atmosphere on 9.0.1 for cfw and running Incognito.....stock SYSNAND SIDE also on 9.0.1 which i only will be using it for mostly Mariokart online...side note, have only used official youtube app as my game cart got damaged so will be getting a replacement for XMAS so most likely when i go to use it will ask to update to 9.1.0...i figure that maybe just UPDATE the Stock(SYSNAND) side when nintendo system update pops up when i insert the game cart but wasnt sure if that just updates the stock(SYSNAND) partition or both? But upon reading around my current setup won't be able to launch 9.1.0 stock(sysnand) side (black screen) and only just the 9.0.1 cfw kosmo atlas...?.well unless atlas/kosmos gets updated i guess i can get a second sd card just to run updated hekate v5.1.1/atmo for launching 9.1.0 stock(SYSNAND) but still use this current SD card to be able to run my current cfw at 9.0.1 with atlas/kosmos. Any and all help/ideas is much welcomed thanx again.

So yeah as I was saying you're confusing what the partitions on your sd actually do, the first post I wrote here is accurate if you want to understand it more clearly. If you want to keep autoRCM on and avoid burning fuses do not use the official firmware updater.

Well not really confused on the difference's of what they do...just unclear on how to update the Stock(SYSNAND) side only. Most guides mostly show how to update/downgrade the CFW EMUMMC

Well YES you can but i never said under "emuMMC".. Hekate has 3 launch options: 1- CFW (SYSNAND) 2- CFW (EMUMMC) 3- STOCK (SYSNAND). The #3 is what i use to play online and is basically OFW for any legit play. The #2 option is for all CFW things-homebrew,emus and ripped games. The first option #1 i never touch since its consider a sure ticket to get banned..my dilemma is that in order to keep playing my cartridge games online i would need to update #3 SYSNAND and use the latest hekate 5.1.1 that DOES let me choose STOCK sysNAND (no black screen)on that partition... but in order to keep using atlas kosmos and other homebrew (that at present time is broken on the latest hekate/atmo 9.1.0cfw) would need to stay at lower firmware 9.0.1 and lower hekate but now i can't play online since it would ask to do a system update when in stock.
So basically lower hekate all homebrew in CFW (EMUMMC) option is working but gives black screen if you choose stock(SYSNAND) launch option that is at current 9.1.0 for online play AND higher latest hekate does launch stock(SYSNAND) option for online play BUT on the homebrew side alot of stuff that i would like to use is broken on latest CFW for 9.1.0....

That's why I say you are confused, you do not have one partition for cfw and one for stock, you have one for cfw and one that acts as your regular sd card, but this part is used by both cfw emuMMC and your sysNand when you boot it on stock. It's not a partition "for stock".

I add that it may be possible to update your sysNand with choidujour for PC but it's quite tedious and I'm not even sure it works for later firmware. Personally I only boot sysNAND in CFW to update with ChoiduJourNX (obviously while offline) and as soon as the process is done i reboot in stock. So far I have not been banned, but I have a european account and have disabled telemetry (thank's GDPR !) so I don't know if it's risky with a US account.

Again, it is not "on that partition", it is on the memory chip off your switch.

As for your other problems, which Homebrew are broken on 9.1 ? Also you can perfectly boot 9.0.1 cfw emuMMC with the latest version of hekate. My emuMMC is still on 8.1, my sysNAND on 9.1 to play online, I use the latest hekate and latest Atmos and everything works fine.

..so last time i checked "ONE" plus "ONE" = 2 ..as in 2 PARTITIONS on my sd card and again ONE partition for CFW option and ONE partition for STOCK option.

As for your other problems, which Homebrew are broken on 9.1 ?

AND clearly you haven't read the change log for 9.1.0 cfw and how certain default folder directories and files have been moved or removed that previous Atmosphere homebrew, emus..etc relied on and need their corresponding Author to update to latest Hekate/Atomsphere version to function correctly...who's confused again?

Seems you over examine the individual words instead of looking at the whole situation..of course the real OFW is on the NAND on the Switch motherboard and since i did mention my sd card setup and we are in "Switch - Exploits, Custom Firmwares & Soft Mods" section its clear what i'm asking...not confusing
but hey! I pretty much found my solution so im good thanx for offering to help though.
