Thanks for help, I keep holding the R trigger but am still in applet mode. I gave a bunch of tries but can't get out of applet mode.

One of the developers had prevent full memory access from the Album. Just try games from your library until you can access. So, need to hold Right Trigger when loading certain games.

I was having this problem and I just figured out what works for me..

  • DO NOT hold the R trigger, and launch a game.

  • Wait until the screen appears to select which profile you're going to use, THEN hold down the R trigger and select your profile.

  • Continue holding the R trigger until the HBmenu comes up. At this point I can release the R trigger and open Checkpoint without it complaining about being in applet mode.

I tried following all the instructions here and elsewhere on the internet and it never worked for me because everything says to hold R trigger WHILE you're launching the game.. which bypasses the profile selection screen and goes straight into HBmenu in applet mode. I hope this helps some of the other people experiencing this problem.

@Stacldub yeah that sux that they took the option away.

I really wish there was an option to decide whether you want the applet mode of full mode when you go into the album. I mean maybe a change to the atmosphere settings ini or have 2 versions so you can choose which one to install. Either way I'm sure its an easy thing for the devs to add.

Mine said applet mode off Before and now it's on and I cannot backup any save files for my pokemon sword. I never had to hold R and choose a game. When I 1st hacked my switch (1 month ago) all I had to do was just backup my game take the memory card out do what I need to do pop it pack in hit restore and boom everything works. Ever since that update for pokemon
now it won't backup anything it seems to have something back the that won't change

Atmosphere 0.16.0 pre-release

Here's what worked for me after trying all the other methods in this thread:

Start the game (without holding any buttons).
When the profile select pops up, hold R BUMPER (not the trigger).
Keep holding it.
Now hbmenu pops up

What I found to be easy is load tinfoil.nro, it'll install tinfoil. Then copy a small game to sd or install via usb. Then you can use title override

I am using the game launch to open homebrew but how does this working when installing themes? I have seen that when I exit back out of homebrew menu and re-enter I will be back into applet mode. If I install themes which needs the applet mode to be turned off and it automatically reneters applet mode will I have an issue with the installed themes?

Any help on this would be appreciated.
