My friend is trying to install some games to the Wii U but his SD card needs to be FAT32 to use WUP Installer.. how can he format an SD Card to FAT32 within the vWii or Wii U?

He also has an Android phone but is not rooted (fat32 formatters need the phone to be rooted)

Thank you.

No. Since the WiiU formats it´s own format (not Fat32). The WiiU DOES Support Fat32 only for SD-cards...but it doesn´t come with it´s own formating-tool dude.

Thus you need to format your SD-card via a (foreign) PC and/or smartphone/Tablet. The hell, some other gaming-console.

The WiIu only uses a propriatery Nintendo-format. The second you put in a new mass-storage it asks to format it and thus you cannot read it on a PC, since it´s garbled data (encrypted).

Sorry. There´s no workaround for that. You need a smartphone, with the necessary tool (and that means you have to use a unlocked smartphone, aka rooted) or a tablet. Some notebook/Laptop. Or a PC.

The hell- it doesn´t even matter how old your PC is. You can even use a Windows XP-PC if you have such an old machine. It would still work. You just need a Fat32-Tool.

Technically it would even work with a Raspberry Pi and a Fat32-tool lol.

The problem he doesn't has any of that.

And I'm talking about using the SD card to install games on the Nand... Not to use it as storage unit.

go to a public library and do it there or borrow a friends computer/ask a friend (if someone asked me "hey could you format this for me" I'd be like sure why not it takes 10 seconds)

The hell you could even use an old Mac to do that (with the necessary installed Fat32-tool) xD. Or a Linux-machine.

If you don`t have any of these things...well. I guess it´s time to say goodbye. Since there is no work-around.

Edit: even a 3DS could work! Asuming you have homebrewed it and there is a format-tool installed on it (i don´t know which ones are available for the 3DS).

I think there are scripts, you can download and they can format your SD-card on 3DS.

Like i said: Then it cannot be done. This is a minimum-requirement. In this case you would have to lend someone`s PC/rooted smartphone/Fat32-formattable-capable device.
