To update my WiiMC-SS i need to rename WiiMC-SS.dol to boot.dol and replace?
Depends on how you use it. If you want to load it from the hbc it only looks for sd|usb:/apps/wiimc/ so you absolutely need to rename it. If you load it with something else then it can have a different name but the path is not changed, and the settings.xml will reset if the app version doesn't match.

Any progress why streaming drops after an average of 20 minutes or randomly?

May I make a feature request? I'm looking for a way to disable the sensor pointer completely. When using this as a media player in my minivan's entertainment system, sometimes one of the kids in the back who was using the remote will have it pick up a reflection of the sun or something like that and assume it is the sensor bar. The end result is often, make a turn, suddenly hand moves onto screen and stays there until someone moves the controller.
It'd be pretty awesome if I could toggle off the pointer entirely.

I'd like you to know how grateful I am for this mod. With deblock filter disabled now many of my mkv files can play without having the audio desynching, so now I don't have to convert every video, and the deflicker option does wonders for my old CRT with composite cables. Truly wonderful work.

You know, my HDD has 2 partitions, the first in NTFS and the second in FAT32. For some reason, WiiMC-SS can only detect the first, while WiiMC has no problem reading both. If you have the time, could you please add support for reading at least 2 partitions?

Your mod would completely replace WiiMC for me if you did that. I thank you for taking the time to read this.

After updating look for the debug setting and set it to 4. You may want to disable DVD support since the pointer is still required if no disc is recognized.

I don't have a way to test so I removed all the previous changes related to device mounting, please let me know if it works now.

The Gamecube Controller works well, but doesn't work with keyboard (tubemc or some IPTV's with password)
The Wii Classic Controller also doesn't work with the keyboard.
Is terrible for searching videos or writing passwords.

I did some more testing,guys.
I ripped 2 DVDs last weekend with MakeMKV (wich gives raw file from the dvd),Robocop and Batman Returns.
Both was ripped to xvid in 720x480p with 5/6 GB in size and the video bit rate was around 6.000 bits,
so i converted it to .264 640x480p to watch on WiiMC. What a dumb I was!

The wii played them very well with the raw output!With no problems to play at all.
I tried this after i noticed some Jiraya and Black Kamen Rider i downloaded were playing very well with a resolution of 720x544 (or higher) and was playing very well.

How I wish my Wii could play DVD's nativelly.

So this is it,guys.We can watch pretty decent movies in our Wii.
My main option for some old Anime,Tokusatsu,Old tv shows and movies now.And how a joy it is to lay in the couch and do everything with the wii mote.

little edit: All this in a glorious CRT of course

Thank you again,op.

The Wii can play them natively with WiiMC, I do on mine., unless yours is defective/broken. You could always share the drive over the WiFi network and play the dvd on the Wii using the computers DVD drive, I've doe this before also and works well on a good connection.

If the format is right the Wii can play 1080 content, but it cannot sustain the data rates over Wifi for this format and you would need to provide it over USB to prevent buffer under runs or stuttering.

My Wii is that black version without DVD play support.
Thank you for the information,but i think it's pointless to watch 1080p content in a 4:3 CRT.I'm much more interested in a high bit rate at maximum of 720x480p.I think the way to go is ripping them with MakeMKV.

I've downloaded a .264 movie and i want to convert it to Divx but my Wondershare Uniconverter only let me choose 4k bitrate at 720x480p.I want at least 6 or 7k.Can someone help me?

Now you can specify a folder in the settings to store art/posters and if you do, you can use an XML file to add descriptions for videos or audio files.
I wrote a small guide in the op on how to use it.

You can also use this for the online media tab, if you host a PLX playlist you can point an xml as well:
Code:
version=1

type=playlist // first entry example, leads to another playlist, without info or artwork.
name=Title that will be used for display
URL=http://example/anotherplaylist.m3u

type=playlist // second entry example, leads to a playlist with info and artwork.
name=Title name
thumb=http://example2/item/image_name.jpg // this can be from local storage too and is faster.
xml=http://example2/info.xml
URL=http://example2/url_link.plx

What is the difference between the cache fill from video settings and online cache?
8 MB of MEM2 are used for the cache, the setting controls how much of the cache to fill before the video should play. It's the same as -cache-min for mplayer.
The difference is being able to set a specific value for http videos. I don't know the reason why. A possible reason is that the higher values tend to be problematic, in official WiiMC it's limited to 50%, and since other devices (sd/usb/smb) work fine with the higher values they split the setting.

Hi,each day I love this more!
Can i make a simple request?I'd love to be able to change the position of the subtitles.
My CRT is a common 4:3 tube,so why not put the subs in the black borders of the movies/shows/etc..?
I think a lot of people will use this feature (If it's possible)

I've made a small update just to fix a few problems with the art viewer.
Sometimes, especially when using the pointer, you could get it to show the XML info from the previous item on the current one. This should never happen now.

If you browsed through your files and folders many times in one go, dir loading would gradually get slower and eventually crash. This is because I accidentally wasn't freeing some of the memory used for the art viewer, even though there's enough space to leak pointers for hours, the viewer is restricted to a 2MB 'area' that's also used for other stuff, so it builds up fairly quickly, luckily I was able to notice it.

And lastly I increased the priority of the network thread, with the goal of preventing video playback to halt randomly. Because this is a random and rare issue, it's hard to find a fix so this is just a hunch.

Currently it's not possible, but this option is built-in, it just needs to be exposed to WiiMC to enable it (and to test it.) The settings are -ass-bottom-margin and -ass-use-margins, you could try them in mplayer ce.

I'm not a fan of extremely low subs, and the sub renderer is quite slow, this type of setting could potentially make it slower, so I'm hesitant about adding it.

with this new update i get this error

exception dsi occurred
You could post the stack dump info, so I can try things, or maybe describe the issue a bit more. Like, if it's crashing before the menu is shown, while browsing, or stuff like that.

@SuperrSonic Could you possibly add YouTube support to your WiiMC mod? TubeFixer is a project to use YouTube on WiiMC, but it needs you to make an API key.

However, if you use the latest TLS, which can be done if you compile wolfSSL for the Wii, you won't have to proxy video feeds, but you still need an API key.
