Hacking Nintendo Switch Banning Hub & Warning

Temporary bans are a new thing as of last month and this is quite literally the first time Nintendo has ever handed out non-permanent bans. There is no indication of how they are triggered versus regular bans or how long they last but someone did call Nintendo earlier only to find out the ban was actually permanent. Nintendo did a sneaky-sneaky and updated one of their pages that originally said it was a temporary ban to a permanent ban. You've got nothing to lose by calling them but try not to expect any good news either.

Oh that is sneaky and bad news , well I’m not buying another unit that’s what they want me to do. And I know I’m cutting off my nose to spite my face oh well

Fair point and I except that but it seems very extreme to just bin this switch . I know I can get around it with other measures but what if I wanted to stay legal? Why do they have to lock down firmware updates and legally obtained game updates? Am I being unreasonable thinking they are being unreasonable ?

Sounds like they don't want you to stay legal if they won't even let you buy games on eshop and update your legit games.

This is my total point I am being forced to obtain updates and firmware illegally just so I can run my legal games - ridiculous

Just a quick update. Im using SX Pro since 1.5, XCI only (except for one nsp converted to xci game which I didnt notice until later). I still update all the games via nintendo server on ofw and activate airplane mode when switching over to cfw. Not a single ban so far.

will you be safe if you buy a second clean switch and use a brand new NNID or will they ban you if info matches on external IP/banned account registration info? i know i'm going out on a limb here

Oh right so the temporary ban is until you send it in and they allegedly fix it . I totally agree I won’t be sending my switch anywhere - oh well it looks like I’m banned for ever c’est la vie

Well now that's an interesting tactic. Wonder if they send you back an ipatched Switch, how thoughtful.

Well I’m happy to report I woke this morning to the update nag. Won’t be updating at the moment for obvious reasons , but at least I can update to 9.0 if need be in the next couple of weeks . So many good games coming out I may change my mind and pick up a couple. I’ll just have to update them illegally , well Nintendo you’ve forced my hand.

It’s tempting but so convoluted and time consuming to grab the games when my time is very limited . And I don’t play often but I need the new Zelda so will prob just buy it . But i’ll need to pirate the updates - oh what a moral dilemma lol.

guys, here's what I did so far:

1) Did a backup of a clean sysnand (i.e. aside from entering recovery mode and accessing hekate in order to backup the nand, I did nothing "wrong" with the switch).
2) Installed the emunand (hidden partition) using SX OS.
3) Played all of my backups on emunand, never went online.
4) Last week I went online with the emunand for the first time, which only happened AFTER I installed both INCOGNITO and stealth mode -- so my switch woulnd't connect to nintendo servers. I did it so I could use HBG and, obviously, there was no online play involved (I applied the incognito + stealth mode combo, after all)

Now I plan on restoring my clean sysnand, which I'd use to play online the games I purchase through official means (cartridges / eshop). I'd also keep a SD card with emunand (hidden partition) for backups (with incognito and stealth mode on, obviously). Basically, there would be a card for the sysnand and another one for the emunand, and I'd keep changing between the two according to my needs. Also, since the sysnand would be as clean as possible, I wouldn't need to restore the backup everytime I felt like playing online.

suppose I do all that, is it still possible for nintendo to track me down? is there any other precaution I should take?

I heard going incognito is a really good way to avoid a ban, but I decided to ask here before going through with my plan.

You don't really need to use separate SD cards unless you do not have enough space for emuNAND and sysNAND on one SD card. Outside of that, you should be pretty safe. And you do not really need both Incognito and Stealth Mode. Having one is sufficient at blocking web traffic to Nintendo.

Is Emunand/Android on SD-card without going online, still 100% save at this point? I don't want to risk a console ban or account ban. Thx the reply in advance .

Android is 100% ban proof. EmuMMC is around 99%. The only reason it is not 100% is because it touches Horizon in a very small way unlike Android which is ran completely from the SD card. Also the FAQ is mainly for frequently asked questions which are up-to-date unless you can think of other commonly asked questions.

In what way does it touch horizon? Besides copying.
