I have drastically forgotten how this works.
My Switch has been gathering dust for the last few months as Work changed and Ive had less time to play.

Switch is still on 6.2.0, Atmosphere 0.8 (?), games work fine, but I would like to try out Astral Chain which is 8.1.0 (?)

How do I go from where I am to using 8.1.0 software?

Also seeing the word EmuNAND being thrown around, are we at 3DS stages now? where Can I go to get EmuNAND going on this baby!

Hi all
Only ever use SX pro on my switch
Have recently set up emunand and updated it using choiNX
My question is.......what is the simplest way to disable autoRCM which the above enabled?
Thx for your help :)
You can disable in the sx os boot menu. But this will make your switch burn fuses at next boot with the original Nintendo bootloader.

Update with ChoiDujourNX. Yes, you can create emuMMC. Follow the emuMMC part of this guide: https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/

Use the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX to update your firmware without burning fuses. And yes, emuNAND is currently available however it is only useful as a ban shield. For patched consoles, it is mandatory to use as the exploit they rely on is locked to a specific firmware. And to avoid double posting, only press the "Post Reply" button once.

I have a 256 GB SD card formatted to fat32, and it works in my PC just fine. If I try to use it in my 8.1.0 Switch, it says it needs to be formatted. I also have a 3.0.0 Switch, which also says it needs to be formatted. When I attempt to format it (w/the 3.0.0 console), it says an update is required. I didn't attempt to format it w/my 8.1.0 Switch, as that one uses exfat.

I know one of the "work arounds" to get a high capity SD card working on a non-exfat capable Switch (aka, not updated w/exfat drivers on my 3.0.0 Switch) was to format it as fat32, but that doesn't seem to be working. I used "EaseUS Partition Manager 13.5" to format the SD card. Should I use something else?

I'd really appreciate any assistance here.

Try GUIFormat.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did that, and it's still not working. It's giving me the same messege on both of my Switches still.

I booted L4T (1.3.1) on my 3.0.0 Switch and formatted the 256 GB micro SD card with gparted, and it's still saying it needs to be formatted to be used on my 8.1.0 Switch.

Are there any other suggestions? I've heard people talking about using 400 GB cards on their Switch. I know fat32 is the suggested format, so it seems unlikely that all the people I've heard talk about it are on exfat.

My 128 GB (exfat) card is already full, so I bought a 256 GB card. As I was prepping my new SD card, I figured I wanted to use homebrew on it eventually, so I figured it'd be better to format it as fat32 now, rather than later, so I wouldn't have to worry about moving files later. So far, it hasn't been working in my favor.

So, I formatted my 256 GB card using my 8.1.0 Switch (which of course formatted it to exFAT), then formatted it using guiformat.exe, and now it's working. I guess EaseUS changed the partition(?) somehow, in such a way that using the other tools, while they did format it to fat32, did not change the actual partition definintion (I guess? I thought formatting removed partition information...). But it's working now, so I guess that's what matters. Still, 10 hours down the drain (most of it at night, while I slept), as I had already copied my previous contents over. Now to copy everything over again.

(I redownloaded one of my games from the eShop to make sure it was working. I realise copying my previous SD card may not work, but I don't have the bandwidth to redownload everything. Copying it over [at night] is a better option, as it might work, and will save me months of redownloading 100+ GB)

Anyway, thanks for attempting to help. I appreciate it anyway. :)

Update with ChoiDujourNX. Yes, you can create emuMMC. Follow the emuMMC part of this guide: https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/

Followed the guide all the way, backed up NAND and created EmuMMC, moved over my original Nintendo folder.
Now all apps have a cloud icon, cannot launch.
Holding R entering Album launches HBC so thats working.

What am I missing?

Also ChoiDujourNX, should I get the NXv or just ChoiDujour? (grabbed NXv as it made more sense, but holding off on launching till I can get confirmation)

EmuMMC creates a 1:1 copy of your NAND. You don't have to copy over the Nintendo folder.
To update you need the NX version.

I have a launch edition Switch I upgraded from 1.0 to 2.0 when system was released.
Just downloaded Puyo Puyo Tetri demo and install the SDXC update and haven't used since.

Do I want to buy Xecuter SX PRO or need something else?

Thanks

Hey all! I recently got a Nintendo Switch, and it's hackable! I don't particularly want to do much with it due to the risk of being banned, but I really want to convert my cartridges to digital files so I can just bring my Switch on the go. Is there a safe way to do that, and is there any risk of being banned if I do? Not looking to pirate anything, just wanting to convert games that I own physically. :)

I followed the guide and moved in the Nintendo folder when told. (In the SD preparation step, last coloured message).
My Nintendo folder is from pre-2019, I was on 6.2.0 and am now moving to EmuNAND and 8.1.0
I am not sure what you mean by 1:1. There's no way there's enough space on my SD to 1:1 100gb+ of data.
I apologize if I'm coming off as rude or arrogant but that doesn't explain why my games are all asking me to redownload / cloud icon.

In the eyes of our Lord Nintendo, the moment you hacked your switch you are banable.
The term you are looking for is Dump. You need to dump the carts to .xci so you can load them from SD.
Just because you own the games doesn't prevent a ban. Just stay offline, 100% of the time.
