With the recent bullshit, I'm having to look for an alternative. I've yet to find a good one. I'm kind of at my wits end and still having to deal with TeamViewer's bullshit simply because I haven't found a good alternative yet.

My requirements are:
- Android client
- An account system or similar so I can add all of my PCs and access them all from my laptop, phone, etc. without having to enter in the info every single place I want to use it.
- Fast (as in refresh rate.) VNC is slow, Remote Utilities is slow, and UltraViewer doesn't have an Android client. This was my primary reason for using TeamViewer to begin with and it really sucks that they're being dicks now.

If you don't know what I mean, recently they've been flagging literally everyone as business users, and trying to charge them money. At first I could connect for 5 minutes at a time before it disconnected me and told me to pay, now it's no more than 1-2 minutes. This has been going on for a while (at least a year), but it didn't happen to me until recently. And they seem to have no interest in people legitimately telling them their use case and asking to be unflagged.

If anyone has a good suggestion, do let me know.

Mikogo seems more for screen sharing with another person (not really what I'm after since I use TeamViewer to manage my PCs when I'm not at home and when I'm too lazy to go into the bedroom to control my desktop :P)
AnyDesk looks nice, but sadly isn't free. Which would be OK if it wasn't a monthly subscription.

Edit: Actually, Mikogo appears to have a remote desktop client which is free and has an Android client. Might be worth looking into.

I can attest this as well, though from the opposite perspective...

Not to long ago, I was called in for an 'emergency': the people from the vault could no longer connect to a specific computer. As it turned out, they had used a free version of TeamViewer as well to check one remote computer on a daily basis for at least over a year, and had been ignoring the 'please pay for this if you're a company' message all that time. We from ict were also never informed of this little act of piracy (we ARE a business) until that connection slowly stopped from... Five minutes, I guess, to merely two seconds.
I admit it's somewhat of a dick move, but in our case it was justified. On top of being a company, this was the vault. Their office literally has buckets and buckets of cash lying around, yet they never thought that paying for paid software was the thing to do.
(I ended up getting them a license, of course)

Can't say I know many alternatives. Tight NC, yes. But it's a front end for vnc, so likely equally 'slow' (I don't find it slow, but TeamViewer is certainly snappier and more responsive)

That's fair. My issue with it is that they seem to give zero shits if thousands or tens of thousands of personal users get flagged if they're not making any money off of them. And on top of that, the price they ask for a paid single user subscription is frankly too much to be worth it to most personal users. The issue seems to be extremely widespread, and seems like it will happen to everyone sooner or later.
It didn't use to be that way, but now I guess they have added a system that flags people just based on how often they use TeamViewer, or whether they access TeamViewer from multiple different IPs, or god knows what.

Hard to say. I have it installed on my father and girlfriend's PC as well. The thing is: I only use it in case of troubleshooting things. Five minutes is plenty, and because it happens like only once in two months, it's not like I'm going to get flagged. I think they're more going after those who use it on a near daily basis (like those colleagues from my previous post).

I got to agree that for a single user, the price is high. Especially considering it's a yearly subscription. Until now their yearly update has always seen some interesting new features. None of which I really need since...version 12, I think (the one that added android support). The hard part probably isn't in remaining on your current version, but that you cannot connect to a higher version (which is pretty smart on their behalve, and rather infuriating elsewhere if you've got friends who "just updated it because it wanted to").

Oh, but that reminds me: have you tried a downgrade? They're slowly removing those from their website, but I've had success with them in the (not too long ago) past. But as said: make sure that if you've got a version that works, that you disable updates on all the computers you want to connect with.

I think Android support has been around much longer than that. IIRC it was there back in v9 or v10.

I am also having troubles, though I can see why they would accuse me (I have friends and family all over the world, multiple machines each, and routinely connect for hours to either do full checks, manipulate the files they need sorting, do something tedious but works better when I am the one doing it, or debug printers).

What are your use scenarios? Most remote control stuff runs literal keyboard switcher - windows remote desktop - teamviewer - vnc - bad vnc. VNC then only really losing out by virtue of need to open ports or run a monitor server yourself to make it such that the PC traverses NAT or something compared to teamviewer where people can phone me up or something and tell me numbers (pro tip for those dealing with technophobes and no clue about security -- don't install the password stuff and get them to tell you numbers every time).

For quite a while I had a nice ultravnc setup for my home PC with my keys on a USB drive which I would use when out and about. No lag issues really beyond what I would get with teamviewer. I do recommend having more than one method available though just in case the program crashes or something (easy enough to force a reboot or restart the VNC program with SSH). Only reason I stopped was because I moved on from windows and then whatever dynamic dns provider I was using stopped being free.

Do none of the various competitors on the remote access for business and IT support still exist (logmein, gotmypc, anydesk) and do something here?

TeamViewer is the only good one but it's bullshit
There's VNC but only RealVNC works properly and not that fast and it's bullshit too
I use ssh with x11 forwarding but it opens programs in your ssh session and you can't really control and see the programs on the remote computer's displays and it's unusable if you don't have a fast connection to the remote computer
