Haven't played anything on much my switch for a good long while, or done any gaming in general.
Life had me have my hands full with college studies, exams and stuff of that manner. Little to no free time that I have I use it to be active on GBAtemp, hence I had to hold off gaming for a while because y'know I put GBAtemp before my other free time activities Lol.

2019's roundup of games seems pretty solid to be honest, regardless of what console/handheld. Though many switch games are due for release in the third quarter of this following year (like Pokemon Se/Sh DOOM eternal and such)
Currently I'm on my first playthrough of DOOM 3 and I have to say, I'm astonished to see how well it runs on the switch. Solid 60FPS most of the time with only some minor hiccups and struggles down the road that are barely noticeable. all in all it performs well.

I'm a bit behind and haven't caught up on stuff. What are some games you would suggest to me (it's OK you can be biased)
I'm the JRPG fan but am looking forward to newer genres, series and whatnot.
For instance DOOM (2016) was what got me in the series and changed my attitude towards FPS games in general thus making me slowly adapt to the series.
Haha there's so many great games out there to be played if only I could step out of my "weeb zone"
I hear this Bloodstained game is pretty rad. should I give it a try?
I have been away from gaming for a long while and have missed on many titles perhaps.
Current switch games that I played and finished.
  • Zelda BOTW
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 2
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Mega Man 11 and the legacy collections
  • The Caligula Effect overdose (persona spinoff garbage)
  • Shovel Knight troves
  • BoxBoy and BoxGirl remake
  • Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu
  • DOOM 2016
  • Yoshi's Crafted World
Most the games mentioning above were either played during my winter Christmas break or in my lunch and free time during casual playtime sessions (yoshis crafted world for instance played it whenever I had free time).
Having said that that doesn't mean I'm not interested into games that require a hefty amount of time and effort to be put into them.

Suggest my what to play next please :)
By the way, please! no skyrim, Minecraft or fortnite

I don't know if "Yonder" is good, or if it's childish, but it should have a story.

There's another Zelda-like I was waiting for years since it was preview, and apparently will be released at the end of the month : Decay of logos
it might be my next game. I hope it's not too bad or short.

The Messenger is really addicting, great soundtrack, and makes you look like a pro at platforming games, the level design makes it seem crazy hard but it controls so well and is fairly forgiving.
Kamiko is a cheap and fun little 2D Zelda-y adventure game. It's short, but it's so cheap that it doesn't matter. Also, great music.

I always recommend Splatoon 2, it's just a ton of fun in multiplayer, but it's not for everyone. For what it's worth though, you can still have a lot of fun in Splatoon 2 even if you don't like shooters. I myself don't care for them much, but in Splatoon 2 the focus is not on killing other players, and you don't really get penalized much for dying repeatedly. I put many hours into the original game's multiplayer, and the sequel is just an improved version of that.

Super Mario Party on the other hand is fun for the whole family. Finally another decent Mario Party game that you can keep coming back to for multiplayer fun. It's not as fleshed out as the older entries (stages are short and linear), but the gameplay is there and the minigames are solid. Waggle controls are there, but not overdone like in Mario Party 8. They're used where appropriate, but don't make you walk around in minigames by using the JoyCon as an old school joystick twisting it every which way just for the sake of making controls more difficult than they have to be.

Since you're a JRPG fan you have to check out Octopath Traveller. I have mixed feelings about it, the 8 distinct storylines to follow is a unique and interesting approach to a JRPG, but at the same time it leaves me a bit unsure where to go next and in some ways I would prefer just to have a longer, clear path to follow from start to finish. That is just down to personal taste though and I still very much enjoy the game despite that. Very pretty looking game too, they went all out on the lighting/postprocessing effects, so that despite being a hybrid of 2D and 3D it looks really pretty. At night in snowy regions the snow sparkles just like it does in real life, and it looks very impressive. I much prefer Octopath Traveller over I Am Setsuna or Lost Sphear. It's just more fun to play. I might even prefer it over Bravely Default/Bravely Second on 3DS.

I didn't play it either, only the demo which I never even completed (unless there's no ending?). if there is one, I didn't find the ending.

you have 8 characters and you need to play them all in order to progress. you can play them in order you want (or find each characters). you are not required to play them all, but you can't really beat the game without doing it because your level is too small, and either you grind exp, either you play other characters.
I think each characters have 3 or 4 chapters, and the people I know who played the game became annoyed and the game it boring to do all chapters separately and continue each character later, etc.

but I didn't play it, I don't know, maybe you'll like it.
