I have 10 burnt fuses, I have to update to 8.1 am I right? if I update to 6.1 I will have more burnt fuses then the right ones
That's correct, but you can't use anything higher than 6.1.0 with the guide you're following. You will temporarily have to downgrade to 6.1.0. Your Switch won't boot normally until you update to 8.1.0 afterwards.

so, I will update to 6.1, then I have to update from 6.1 to 8.1 and I will be fine. Correct?

Is there any way to install nsps from a hdd? Connected my hdd to the switch, and assumed goldleaf would be able to detect the drive, but doesn't seem to be the case.

No, I don't think so. Connect the HDD to your computer and install from your computer over USB or FTP.

Hi, all.

I'm on the latest firmware, using Kosmos (Atmosphere). I also downloaded and copied the last sigpatches to SD root. But when I want to install NSPs in Goldleaf, I usually get this error:

"Error: 0x234a02 (Invalid NC; might mean missing sigpatches or a too low firmware)"

It doesn't matter if the game is newly released or old, I get the error often. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Update your firmware if it is low firmware.

I recommend doing the following:
  1. Make a NAND backup with Hekate if you haven't already. Store it somewhere safe.
  2. Remove all CFW files/folders from your SD card (that would be folders like /sept/ and /atmosphere/)
  3. Download the latest Atmosphere from GitHub (currently 0.9.2)
  4. Download the latest fusee-primary (next to Atmosphere)
  5. Download these signature patches
  6. Put Atmosphere and the signature patches onto your SD card
  7. Put the SD into your Switch
  8. Launch Atmosphere using fusee-primary
  9. Try again.
If the above steps don't work, try DZ Tinfoil instead of Goldleaf.

As I said in the other thread:
  1. You do not need a dongle if you're okay with using your computer (or Android device) to push the payload over USB.
  2. If you keep your Switch in sleep mode whenever you're not using it, you're not going to need to push a payload very often.
  3. If you decide later you want a dongle, you can buy a cheap dongle from another source and use it with SX OS or any other CFW.
  4. SX OS is not needed. Atmosphere does just about everything SX OS does, for free.

Update your firmware if it is low firmware.
The Switch is allegedly on "the latest firmware."

Question from a complete noob who just wants to remain safe.

I have a Patched unit with Firmware 4.1.0.

I am trying to figure out how to do a nand backup, from what I can gather you need to actually hack the console first to do so.

First question is:
1. Is it possible for me at this point in time to do a nand backup with my unit?

Second:
2. Is there a "Best time" to do a nand backup? Should I just do it first with a blank system, or is it okay if I use it for a month normally (playing games I bought) with no hacking then do a nand backup? I figured itd be best with a clean and untouched system but maybe Im overthinking it all.

ha ha me again, i was wondering if its possible to restore nand without boot0 or boot1? i used reinX toolbox to backup nand and everything else. i managed to salvage my nand but not boot. ran scipt to join and got a 32gb file but no boot files. im on 8.10 reinx(0.0) my firmware is the same as it always was and my nand was the first thing i did. and all i see is a lot of talk about downgrading to lower firmware as to just restoring.

basically want to start "clean" and im going to try the sx pro for a minute and want to start fresh. i use it docked and as a console so im looking for external storage feature. i enjoy my setup now but i need more storage and this seems more beneficial.
thanX in advance

First, don't connect online unless you have PegaScape setup. If you connect online without it, you will get a browser supernag, and you won't be able to hack your Switch.

Follow this guide to hack your Switch and make a NAND backup: https://switch.homebrew.guide/hacking/caffeine/forewarning

The best time to do a NAND backup is ASAP. That way, it's as clean as possible, and you have it if you accidentally brick early.

I recommend skipping Step 2: Injecting Fake News and Step 3: Configuring PegaScape (Fake News) so your NAND backup is relatively cleaner.

Thank you for the response, Lacius. I'll try that now. Other than atmosphere and sept, should I delete any other folder from my SD? These are all the folders in root: atmosphere, bootloader, config, EdiZon, mGBA, Nintendo, sept, switch, tinfoil, and hbmenu.nro. Thanks.

First, make a backup of BOOT0/1 now and put them somewhere safe.

If your Switch was on 8.1.0 and you're restoring an 8.1.0 NAND backup, you don't need to restore BOOT0/1.

It's not necessary.

awesome, thank you very much for the QUICK response. so just use the hekate payload to restore like the tutorials say and just disregard the downgrade part?
so boot files are the same before and after mods?
