go to USBLoaderGX > Settings > Loader's settings > change "Loader's IOS" from 249 to 58 and reboot.
also, be sure you update the loader manually, latest revision (as of today) is 1272

or update and reset all settings (1272 uses IOS58 by default)

Ok, i have a question, will it matter whether i put theloader on my sd or HDD?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

OK so quick update, it starts up normally, but it only shows me my gamecube games from my sd card
ill try starting it up with my hdd

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

ok so when i try to load it from the homebrew menu with my hdd its not being detected and when i load the loader from my sd card it says waiting for HD and after a while it just loads up normally without the games.

did you plug the drive in usb port 0 ?
bottom port on Wii, back-top port on WiiU.

if you launched the loader once without the usb detected, it automatically disabled wii games.
re-enable wii games by going to : Main window > top menu > 4th icon

everything seems fine, so it's strange.
IOS58 lets you detect the drive or it's stuck on 20sec detection screen? if not working, set the setting back to 249.

verify "Wii" is enabled.

verify the correct partition is mounted for your wii games:
settings>hdd settings>install partition : click on it to scroll through all found partition on the device, it might have to be reset/forced back to the proper partition.

verify you don't have "favorite" star enabled on the top menu while not having any stars set to any games

verify you didn't remove the "All" setting to category menu.

or you know, reset the settings and everything above will be back at once :P
except IOS58 which is now default instead of 249.

nope, i cicked the install partition and nothing happened, so i reset it to default settings and it still doesnt work
BUT now it doesnt freeze, it says : USB device not initialized. Switching to channel list mode.

is it really in port0? (bottom port)
because there's no reason a WD drive wouldn't work. it's usually flashdrive (or toshiba hdd) which have this detection issue.

try another loader (wiiflow) or homebrew (wiixplorer) or even HBC (put homebrew in apps/ folder on hdd and go to hbc settings to mount usb instead of sd).
see if other homebrew can init/find the drive.

There's something wrong with your drive if no homebrew can see it.
maybe it's the cable? sometime it can be the cable (it's rare but I already had users fix that issue by using another, shorter, cable)

hmm, that's weird. it's better but not enough?
it works fine on computer, right?

it's a direct cable, no hub or base where you connect it to?
it's also not an enclosure, but a real external WD hdd? the more strange is that you said it used to work a year ago.

when i plug it in the computer, the HDD folder opens and for some reason another usb is detected with the other one, like, when i plug it in, two devices get detected on file explorer

its an external WD HDD that i use a cable to connect it to the wii

also, does the cable type matter?

cable type shouldn't matter that much, as long as it's short and not 2m.

if the computer detects 2 partitions, you should check the drive in a partition manager to see if there's really 2 partitions, where is the other one, which format, etc.
maybe it's why the loaders can't mount it, but they should either skip unrecognized partition, or mount them with no games. that's what the "install partition" option is used for in the loader, select the partition where you have the games.

at least, HBC now detect the drive, so it means the hardware works fine and can init.
now if it's not stuck on "waiting for hdd detection" screen it also means the device is detected, it should continue the loading as the partition is not mounted here.
if it loads but with no game listed, it's progress and good news.
if it's stuck on detection screen, try changing IOS to 58 again (or 249 if already on 58)

when i put the HDD in disk management on my pc it detects both of the partitions
