Splatoon 2 Version 5.0.0 released

splat.jpeg

Nintendo have released version 5.0.0 for the only shooter featuring both squids and kids. The update has a few rebalances, bug fixes, and map alterations.[prebreak][/prebreak] There's also the new 'Splatfest Tee Replica', which is a new piece of gear. Given that Nintendo is ending development for Splatoon 2, this is probably the final major update we'll get.

You can check out the patch notes below.

Probably have more ppl playing fortnite

Actually Fortnite itself is dying. Believe it or not Epic lost probably over half their revenue on Fortnite doing stupid shit. Fortnite with its weekly updates is too fast to keep players enticed to play the game so Fortnite's gonna crash faster than any other game. Since the updates are too fast most (if not all) updates usually are buggy or have bugs or problems that piss players off. Epic is also focusing more on spending shit tons of money stupidly on getting EGS exclusives to get more people on their shit of a store which makes Fortnite not as much of a priority.

I can only presume they’re working on a Splatoon 3 if this really is the end of development for 2. I still think Nintendo could have gotten more time out of this game by adding more events here and there and keeping it updated, but here’s to hoping to see Splatoon 3 at an upcoming E3/Nintendo Direct.

It's been confirmed to not be in development, despite Splatoon 2 beginning development right after the first game's final splatfest

Can anybody explain why an update for Splatoon 2 is front page news? Especially since the apparently most important bit, that the update is presumed to be the last, is speculative?

This is the last major update, which is stated in the article. No more weapons/content will be added, and presumably the next updates if any wi be bug fixes not adjustments.

Splat2n only getting 2 years of support wouldn't exactly make me wanna go out and get the next one, I'd just assume that support will be over just as quickly.

So many updates and still no option to skip the intro. Nintendo really is lacking in quality-of-life features in many of its games.

people that bought splatoon and complained about this still went out and bought splatoon 2. these people are the problem. if people didnt do that, we wouldn't have this problem.

those same people are inevitably going to pre-order splatoon 3.

if you know people like this, please talk some sense into them.

You’re missing his point. He probably thinks the game is great overall, but this one quirk, which is easy to remove in a patch, annoys him each time he loads the game.

You're obviously a player that got your ass kicked by legit players so you come on here to find ways to win like a coward and when you cant do that you complain like a little bitch!

You lost in advance I didn't even bothered to install it
Looks like it's you that got in this case as you seem to draw it well

Not to sound negative, but it was on a console losing sales and popularity unlike the switch which is complete opposite. Still it just seems odd for this circumstance. I never even got to try this splatfest thing. (That's when the game ask you to choose a thing to support and you pick one to support your side and the two octopuses.... octopi... argue over who is right, is that correct?)
Yeah, that's what it is. They didn't last long (like only a few days each), looks like there were about 25 or so in North America.
It's not profitable to support a game with major updates indefinitely.

The first Splatoon received a little more than a year of major updates. Splatoon 2 received about two years of major updates. One should not expect much more than bugfixes from now on.
I could care less about getting major updates. I just want more Splatfests. They were really short and few and far between unless you had the game since launch and were playing almost every day. Splatfests are unique and IMO one of the big selling points of the game

I didn't miss the point. You did.

IIRC the developers said it's actually a loading screen so it's necessary.

No, they said it's a mechanism to combat rage quits. Which is asinine. If you want to punish rage quits, punish rage quits. Don't punish people that want to play the game.

All of this is irrelevant. Nintendo knows that people hate the unskippable intro. But so long as people keep buying their games despite major flaws such as this, they won't change.

They even fucking updated the DsI firmware.. They are killing splatoon 2 and the switch. Since the switch lite is in no sense repairable, I predict huge losses and falls in the stock. Sure malaka kill arms nobody plays that but splatoon is my reason of buying switch online and burning fuses.. I expected this since reggie left.
