I've got a launch switch on 8.1.0 with fuses unburnt since 5.1.0. I've been using KosmOS for the last few months and I've noticed the shiny new interface on the newest hekate proudly featuring some NAND options. Before I started homebrewing this thing, I did a nand backup that I still have and it's been either offline or using 90DNS since then. In all likelihood it should not be banned. AutoRCM is installed. I should be getting a 400GB microSD about next week, so I thought this was a good time to ask this. I will manually backup and restore save files I care about. Basically I want to know if it's viable for me to restore my old backup, enable EmuNAND and keep one installation homebrewed/90DNS'd up and have the other one with only legit games I have purchased from the eShop and the ability to play online once I buy the service. I absolutely do not have enough money to purchase another switch, otherwise I would simply do that and keep it legit forever.

The tutorials on this site and the search function in regard to this question have proven unhelpfully ambiguous. This seems to be a very niche 'sitch. I am simply asking if this is viable and safe, if not I'll just be upgrading the size of my microSD card and going about my merry way.

If you want to play online I'd do exactly what you said. Backup all your saves. Restore your clean nand and make emunand for hackery. Only restore though if you also have boot0 and boot1 backed up.

Yes, that's absolutely viable. I'm currently doing the same thing, although my fuses are burnt up to the latest update. I keep a clean sysnand and a hacked emunand. You may want to consider burning your fuses, otherwise you'll need to use Hekate to boot your stock system without burning fuses.

So far there's no evidence of Nintendo banning for having an unmatched number of fuses, or using a custom bootloader like Hekate to boot stock, but you never know what they could do in an update, or what telemetry data they're sending that we don't know about. I personally play it safe and burn fuses.

Thank you for the insight. I believe I neglected to back up my boot0 and boot1 back in the day and just did the full 32GB backup, so I guess I'll just be upgrading my card then since it's not available to me. Okay, thank you.

I had the same problem. I used choidujourNX to downgrade to 4.1.0 (5.1.0 in your case) the app will generate boot0/1 files. Back those up with hekate, and pair them with your original nand backup.
I'm currently using the clean sysNAND with autorcm enabled, so I have to boot stock with hekate. I've been online for over a week now

This is also true yet I am taking the risk

Update: I just got my card today. I ran a 'real check' using FakeFlashTest and it's all there. I wasn't doubting it anyway, since I purchased it from a reputable location for a reasonable amount of money. I formatted it to fat32 with 32KB cluster size (as many people on this forum have told me to) and copied over everything but the "Nintendo" folder.

I ended up just 'upgrading' my microSD and reinstalling all my games to the card. It's working. I don't think I want to 'poke the bear' any further than this. Thank you all.

Bummer, if only you had the appropriate BOOT 0/1 backups things could have taken a different turn.
I don't believe that Nintendo could have banned people for the fuse count mismatch, but then again nothing knows what might happen in the future.
Please avoid using 90DNS any longer. Incognito is a much safer bet.

I use both. Incognito wipes ProdInfo, but my profile on my EmuNAND is still linked to my Nintendo ID. There's absolutely no evidence to support this, but I would think that if Nintendo sees a Nintendo ID being used on a console with a wiped ProdInfo, it would be reasonable to ban that Nintendo ID, and perhaps any Switch serial numbers previously associated with that ID.

So in my theory, it would be possible to get your SysNAND banned while using EmuNAND, even after wiping ProdInfo. That's why I think it's safer to still use 90DNS, to prevent Nintendo from getting linked profile data as well.

If you want to unlink your nintendo ID from your emuMMC without going online (or without connecting to nintendo servers) you can just use the factory reset option. When it asks you to connect to your account to unlink it just ignore it and continue, it will then warn you that if you do that this console will still be considered as your primary console by your account but it really doesn't matter since your sysnand will still be connected to your account and will effectively be your primary console.

We honestly need something like the Godmode scripts to remove accounts on the switch without having to go through the hassle of factory resetting or probably doing something riskier.
There should be an app allowing us to do so by modifying the NAND or something like that.

I would do that if it didn't mean backing up and restoring all of my stuff.

Goldleaf actually has the ability to delete accounts, I wanted to delete my account from the Switch and just make a new account, but for some reason it fails, probably related to the linked ID.
