You told him to do a gut swap which is considered fraud aka stealing.Stop pretending you are smart on GBAtemp, you are a thief.
I told him to do a
temporary motherboard swap and to be as gentle as possible when disassembling and reassembling the donor system. Switching out and keeping good parts from the donor system would be material theft.
If you want to argue your points on the basis of 'loss of service' for the store or 'hurting consumers' who unknowingly bought a used system when they thought it was brand new, than yeah, doing the switcheroo is wrong on those fronts.
Again, the method is if you seriously don't have an alternative option to recover your personal data and failed to follow good backup practices. For some people, game progress saves, extdata, and other user unique data are priceless memories that are taken for granted only after losing them.
If someone does use this method, you sure as hell better be as discrete, precise, and considerate as possible when returning that donor system to the closest like-new condition. If the system is returned in fully functional condition and no one else knows any better, I would consider that the only person you hurt is yourself from the way of guilt.
What you can't argue is that switcheroo method has practical merits. Call me a thief if that's what you want, but I'm not the one who's stealing anything.
Returned units get sent back to Nintendo who then takes a loss because someone wanted to commit fraud. It says a lot about you as a person that your integrity is only worth 100$. You even stated it was objectively wrong and yet you don't care because the only thing you think about is benefiting yourself.
Store bought and returned 3DS systems are sent back to Nintendo if the store employee quick test check finds or customer stated there was something wrong with it. The donor system would just get re-shelved on store display.
It must be nice for you to argue comfortably with good standard of living by your side. What $100 means to you may mean so much more to someone else. Keep that in mind when you judge others.
You know, I've never seen you here on the 3DS side of the forum helping anyone. Bad charlotte.
