Wow, this is extremely weird now... I can boot into my switch without using SX OS Pro (and it says it's updated to 8.1) dongle but I can't use the dongle to boot into CFW or OFW. Has anyone had this issue?
***Nevermind, I'm a complete moron. I had 2.5 Firmware for SX Pro it's not compatible with 8.1. I had to download the 2.8 beta and it's now working like a charm!

I feel like you are not reading anything I have written.

My apologies, but Hekate was not doing the work for me. On the other hand, ReiNX did wonders. I updated my SysNAND to 8.1.0 and now i can inject fusee atmosphere and get into my emunand, and turn off/turn on to get into my Sysnand. Sorry for the headaches, it's just that it wasn't working on my end, had to switch methods *Insert switch snap here*

Hey guys,

Can i please check if AutoRCM is safe to use alongside Atmosphere Emummc and what precautions need to be taken to avoid a ban while using this feature.

I plan to switch between OFW and CFW regularly for online and offline games. Would be nice to not have to plug into a pc every time!

Am i right in thinking i could select between sysnand and emummc from hekate from a cold boot?

Thanks in advance

Are there signs if the thermal paste on the Switch is running out? Just for the record, my Switch is at least ~1,5 year old and I was wondering if I need to replace it soon. I don't mind opening it up because warranty should already be expired by now.

If you restored a clean NAND backup, then its safe to boot into the NAND that is clean as long as the NAND dump is still clean.

The only way is to setup emuMMC, update it to the latest firmware, then download everything online.

With ReiNX, is it easiest to install .NSP files. There are very few tools that can install .XCI files so it is better to convert them to .NSP format with a tool like 4NXCI. And it is both easy yet hard to brick the Switch. But if you have a NAND backup, you can recover from 99% of all bricks.

Unless you are on a MacOS or Windows 10 computer, you can just transfer the files from one SD card to another. And the Switch supports up to 2 TB.

No.

If it is patched, you should sell it and/or buy a new console. If its unpatched, you can still hack it.

No, you always need to apply the exFAT update when using ChoiDujourNX if your SD card is formatted to exFAT.

I haven't heard anything like that but sounds like its an issue with SX OS. There is nothing wrong with keeping a copy of your save data but you may have to reinstall your games if your SD card becomes corrupted which can happen if it is formatted to exFAT.

How to I keep my saved data? To I copy from sd card ? Or use HB prog?

Ok so I got my switch to turn on, but for some reason all my games don't show up, even though they are in my Nintendo_1337 folder (my emummc), they don't show up at all in my EmuNAND, even though they ARE taking up the correct amount of space out of my micro SD card (about 60gb).

I've tried deleting the folder, letting the emuNAND create another Nintendo folder, and transferring my files over again, but with no luck... I don't mind redownloading all my games, it's just a hassle

No one has been banned for only using AutoRCM so we presume it to be safe for now but that can change at any time. Also Hekate does not currently support emuMMC so you have to either use Fusee or wait until Hekate adds support.

What firmware does SMM2 game and update need to play?

And wats the best FW and version of sx os. To use ?
Apparently the game and update run on 7.X so use whatever version of SX OS that supports 7.X.

Use a homebrew save manager such as Checkpoint or EdiZon.

is there still no solution to make a full clean nand backup of your whole switch on FW 8.1.0?
While Hekate does not support launching CFW on 8.1, it can still dump the NAND on 8.1

Thank you Draxelex

Ah ok, so i could autoRCM into emummc from a cold boot using fusee but i couldn't choose between that and sysnand through a bootloader such as hekate yet?

On that note, how would i go about removing autoRCM when i want to boot into sysnand? Would it just be a case of removing the sd before i boot?

Exactly because Hekate does not support emuMMC yet. And in order to remove AutoRCM, you can use Hekate or briccmii.

No games require 8.X yet. The only feature that requires 8.X is playing online. And the base game for Cuphead works on firmware 6.2

ok, great, I think I understand that a little better now!
and as of right now, there is no risk involved with enabling and disabling autoRCM like this? - I also remember reading there were battery drain problems with it, or has all that been patched out?

Also, on another subject, while using atmosphere emummc, there is no known way at this time for you to accidentally interfere with the sysnand? am I right in thinking that if you say, installed or uninstalled something from the system storage, as against the sd card, this would all happen on the emummc partition of the sd, spoofing it to believe its the system?

Thanks again for your help mate. I can see you've helped a lot of people round here. top guy :grog:

Like I said, no one has been banned yet but one new system firmware is all it takes for Nintendo to start detecting AutoRCM. And AutoRCM never drained battery. Only RCM drains the battery. With AutoRCM enabled, the console reboots into RCM whenever it is turned off. However Atmosphere, and I believe ReiNX, shut down the console properly if AutoRCM is enabled when you power down while running CFW.

Everything that happens in SysNAND stays in SysNAND and vice-versa for EmuNAND. Even the games installed to the SD card while running EmuNAND are installed to a different Nintendo folder in the EmuNAND folder. This doesn't make a difference when you are running EmuNAND as a hidden partition or as individual files.

There is none. On firmware versions 7.X, there is a bug with using any homebrew applications involving USB stuff. On firmware versions 8.X, not all homebrew tools are supported. And on firmware versions 6.X, not all games can be played. You will encounter problems on any firmware especially with an exploit that allows us to be on any firmware. You are asking a question without an answer.

I have heard applications such as Freebird and emuiibo do not work on firmware 8.1. There may be more homebrew applications that do not work.
