What is sept?

Just out of curiosity I want to read about it, but my attention span ran out afer a 10 minutes serch so I figured that this is the best place to get directions to the correct information.

I'm trying to move to Kosmos but the games refused to start, so I went back to ReiNX and they are usimg sept too. So I got curious. Where can I find more precise intformation keeping in mind that I'm not a programmer nor hacker.

Sept is a payload that facilitates booting Atmosphère when targeting firmware version 7.0.0+.

Ok so I'm tryin to get some crash team racing cheats to work using Reinx. it's for the pitstops. But I actually never used cheats before so I have absolutely no idea how to make this work.

Anyone out here that can help out?

The file I found looks like this: reinx\titles\0100f9f00c696000\exefs\main

I got that, I would like to understand why did it stand out so much from an "normal" update for it to receive a separate name and keep that name not being renamed to huit or something like that. Is there a link to a post here or at the atmosphère release page where I could find this type of explanation?

hey guys. im on 8.0.1 and atmosphere. i tried the incognito app, but it seems it gives error on atmosphere. so tried to boot to reinx but couldnt able to. it shows the reinx logo then black screen. autorcm is enabled, so it goes to rcm. (my steps were renamed my old sept folder, then copied the reinx ones, copied reinx and payload folders)
first i thought maybe reinx is not compatible but it says it is. went to github and dl'd the latest one. didnt work. tried all payloads, reinx, hekate and boot to cfw still the same.
is there any other way to install incognito properly, also is it really working?

Don't even bother with Incognito. If you really want to use FTP, you can use 90DNS. Otherwise, there is no need for using tools such as Incognito since it just delays bans.

so ive used sxos for a while but just installed some free cfw on a second switch but have some questions.

I planned on installing atmosphere but installed atlasNX kosmos (could not find a clear guide on how to do it), i was ok with this but when i tried to run backups using tinfoil i get an error message saying it causes errors and use other cfw firmware?

So is atlasnx not a great cfw?

So should I just try again and install atmosphere or reiNX and if so do I need to remove all atlasNX folders or can I just add the required ones to this?

Thanks for your help

First off, what you are using is not Tinfoil but a tool that was originally called DZ and the developer renamed to "tinfoil" for no good reason. The real Tinfoil works well with not only Kosmos but every CFW which is why I recommend you to use that instead. You can find a download for that Tinfoil on sdsetup so you can continue using Kosmos while having an application to install .NSP files.

I want to get a Nintendo switch to play Some Zelda games, but the Nintendo switch is barely in my budget and games are going to be too expensive.

I have lots of modding/jailbreaking experience, JTAGed a Xbox years ago and have done tons of iPhone ‘hack’. I have some questions before I get into this:

1 - Can you mod a Switch to get free games?
2 - Is it possible to get free games without being banned / still play these games online?
3 - Is any Switch mod able or only earlier models? If only earlier models, are the consoles not as good, or almost the same?

Thanks, want to get a switch.

Hi
I want to edit saves on my Switch.
Do I have to use CFW and Checkpoint in order to export/import saves or is there another way of doing this?
And if I’m using CFW, will I still be able to use the eShop in order to purchase DLCs for example or other online services? I’m asking this because as far as I know, the CFW is never really installed to the system and after booting the Switch it will not run the CFW so is it still possible to get banned if I’m not running the CFW online?

Hi guys, Using tinfoil to install nsps. I get the error message below. Im not using kosmos, im using atmosphere whilst injecting with fusee primary. I didnt really want to delete kosmos without knowing the implications or reasons why. I heard there was a patch somewhere. ANyone know what it is so I can just add it?

  1. Yes
  2. Yes and no. Yes you can avoid being banned by using CFW and homebrew exclusively in an offline EmuNAND while avoiding any hacks in SysNAND but it is impossible to play a pirated game online
  3. It is the earlier models but the newer models are the exact same as the older ones. The only difference is that newer models aren't susceptible to the current exploit. We determine the model based on the serial number which you can find a list of here.

While you need CFW to edit saves, you can avoid a ban by utilizing the recently released EmuNAND feature. If you only utilize CFW in EmuNAND and keep it offline while avoiding using any hacks in SysNAND, you can avoid getting banned.

Can you please explain a little more about the EmuNAND or link me to a place where I can read more about it and the difference between this and SysNAND so I can avoid hacking that said SysNAND?

That's great, thanks for the quick reply, this forum continues to impress me!

EmuNAND is a copy of your SysNAND that is run from the SD card. What this accomplishes is the effect of having a second console. Everything happens in EmuNAND is completely isolated from SysNAND and vice-versa. This allows one to run CFW and homebrew in one of the NAND partitions, usually EmuNAND, without compromising the other NAND, usually SysNAND. And by avoid hacking SysNAND, I mean not running any CFW or homebrew in your SysNAND. Sending a payload does not count as CFW or homebrew.
