Hacking About RCM mode question

Nope wrong I have three mod chip switches if I shut them off it doesn't turn back on if I don't touch the power button or connect to a computer or a power supply it doesn't turn on, in your example the reason the switch turn on while it is connected to a computer it is because it is receiving power that why it turn itself back on. OP asks nothing about connecting the switch to a computer, dude asks if he removed the sd card and the switch prompt him to shut it off with autorcm mode on would the switch turn back on without connecting to a power source.

That is just the switch forcing you to shut off and regular shut off , obviously you want to avoid taking the sd card out while the switch is on, as it cause file corruption if you take out the sd card with the unit on. What you do is move toward to FAT32 and do usb install via goldleaf or NS-USBloader. Constant removal of the sd card would damaged the sd card reader inside the switch.

I don't think it would be a good idea to remove the SD card whilst the switch is powered on, even more so when you are copying/moving data.
It could lead to data loss,ad card corruption and a myraid of other troubles.
The same principle applies to RCM too-when backing up/restoring NAND images via hekate.
Now as per the powrfoff inquiry. ..I would suggest you to launch hekate (4.10.1 and latter) , from there you can choose the power off option.
as far as I can tell, it will shut down the switch gracefully without much hassle going on.
However if you want to boot up your switch you'll have to inject a payload,be it with a dongle,PC, and whatever other means available to you of doing so.

That all depends on what CFW you're using too. I know that certain payloads and CFW's fixed autoRCM so it doesn't do that but simply do a search on "autoRCM power drain" and you'll see what I'm talking about. Also, there are multiple ways to wire up a modchip and if I remember correctly a few of those methods fix that issue as well. With my trinket I just did the easiest (4 wire method I think) and it always turns itself back on unless I power down from the SX OS menu or use hekate to power off.

You need to get off the PC discussion. You are failing to grasp the reason I used that as an example. Forget I even mentioned it because you are stuck on replying about the PC.

Older version of atmosphere and hekate would wake up the switch if you shut it off, beside SX OS and ReiNX is both based off Atmosphere codes.

You just made my case. You can't blanket answer the OP that it simply won't power back on without knowing what CFW he is using or asking more about his setup.

Yeah I'm not sure if I'll ever put it together. Life got real busy 2 years ago. Work all the time now. Barely get any time off and when I do it's usually spent on honey do's and yard work.

Both of them doesn't push the unit into rcm mode it just shut them off, when there is a power source connected it, it wake it up, because it is set to autorcm.
