Why don't you use any form of compression on your image? If I were to download this using the internet access I have at home, it'd take me 2 months (I only have my cell phone at home, and it has a bandwidth cap). I downloaded it from my parent's, but I still required compressing the image (to split it to fat32 be fat32 compatible). I ran out of time (I had to get to work), but 7zip compressed the first 9 GB to 4 GB. That's a huge savings in time, space, and bandwidth. If that compression ratio holds true, your 18+ GB image file should reduce down to 7 GB. That's still huge, but it's small enough that I could actually download it from home. Please, have some sense and compress your image! Not everyone has the ability to download such massive files without consequences.

Yeah NOOBS3 has icons for them on the desktop, that person was probably running 2.

OK, where the hell is the "remap controls" option in Reicast? Because the start button is mapped to R2 for some reason, and none of the face buttons work!

EDIT: Never mind. I wish there was a device with the same feature set, convenience, and size factor, and QC as the Switch, but more open and easier to fucking configure at times!

I can't post links yet, but under the tutorial section there is a post labeled "[Tutorial] Compiling and Installing Moonlight-embedded on L4T Ubuntu". Any chance you could add that in to these precompiled builds? It's for PC game streaming to switch.

OK, so I tried MVC2, CVS2, and SC1, and they run fine...with some really weird and annoying sharp frame drops for some reason. Like, it'll be at 60 or around 60 for a second and then it'll have a big frame drop to 30 out of nowhere. At least with CVS2, it's because of some of the 3D effects of the stages like the Bus in the London one, (AKA the stage that's host to the Super Best Friends theme). I would have tried DOA2, but the version I got didn't seem to be detected by the emulator, and I'm sure I have it on the Linux installation here, so I have no idea what happened there.

At least the characters aren't glorified MissingNo. sprites now. Still, what are these frame drops!? Not even my ODroid XU4 experiences those, and that's a small SBC with no Tegra X1 in it!

Can i ask is emulation much different in ubuntu/retroarch than Lakka? Dolphin in ubuntu which I tested out on both, could get the very occasional game working that didnt in lakka because its more recent build or particular cache settings that weren't available in the lakka core, although performance for the most part was pretty much the same.
I always presumed for everything other than dolphin Lakka would be the obvious choice because of its optimised cores and the fact it was built as an emulation front.
My only turn off is the fact it can't be docked yet ;P.

As a side note I've also figured out Stepmania's mapping and have it fully working so I'm going to post a tutorial about that sometime today. Turns out the mapping was way different from what the system was telling me for some reason, maybe because of the linked two joycons.

Thats just dolphin though , and trust me that guy has his ubuntu optimised and not lakka. I can tell from the fact he has loaded about 100 ubuntu videos on youtube ;P, and that I've run Dolphin tests personally, I was more interested in other emulators . PSP/DC/N64 etc...

I'm curious about the frame dips on the standalone reicast build included in the latest image and if there's a way to eliminate those, because I tried OC'ing my system and there was no difference.

Then again, Nintendo's E3 is in a few minutes here...

Well, that was a cool Direct. Too bad about there being nothing Metroid Prime-related or no ports of No More Heroes 1 and 2 (I don't have time to play every game under the sun at any point in my life, you know?), but it was hype all the same.

Unfortunately I don't think I can be much help there, maybe search online to see if there are any reicast settings that might help with performance?

At some point I could maybe look around to see if there are any other decent DC emulators capable of running on ARM64

It's just a minor gripe, really. I don't think there's anything else that runs on ARM64 unless if MAYBE there's some build of Redream or something...

have you tried performance in Lakka or Horizon ? That is all I can suggest really. I haven't really done much dreamcast testing on any OS sadly.

The Horizon build is fine, but it won't be updated for weeks to come, and there's some glaring bugs that haven't been fixed yet (MissingNo. sprites for the characters in CvS2 and MVC2, textures getting loaded up wrong in Virtua Tennis, and other weirdness I poked fun at in one post). Lakka, from what I remember, ran it fine, but progress on that homebrew solution is very slow. Once it can support wireless joy-cons and the dock, it might be more usable for yours truly. Ubuntu is fine for right now because I mostly use my Switch docked atm, though it's weird that you can't use the Joy-Cons normally in Ubuntu in portable mode whereas in Lakka that's the only way you're using them unless if you got some USB-C to USB-C cable!
