I’m having issues trying to play Excite Truck. I’m on Wii U, vWii using WiiFlow Lite with SD card loading. All my games work except this one. Usually when a game doesn’t work, you get a black screen, the Wii remote disconnects and the only way to reset the system is to unplug it. With Excite Truck, I actually get the loading bar which fills up all the way before the typical black screen, disconnection and unplug happens. All my games work fine from auto except this. I’ve tried 249, 250 and 251...same thing happens each time. I’ve Googled the problem and saw the same issues dating as far back to 2012 to as recent as 2017 but haven’t found the solution. Anyone know the problem?

Also make sure your dump of Excite Truck is a good dump. If everything but that works...

I tried redownloading the wbfs twice now from two sources and the same thing happens each time. It's definitely something to do with the game which makes sense since other people were posting about a similar issue as well. You can see some of these issues under the reply box on this site where it lists similar threads. I think I heard it had something to do with emunand but I'm running the games directly from the SD card and the save file for my Wii games are appearing in my vWii data...so don't think I'm doing anything wrong there.

do a syscheck and tell us what cios are being used

Anyone come up with a solution? I tried removing the SD card like it mentioned in another thread but that doesn't work...why would it, the games on the SD card so that doesn't make sense. I was gonna add the "/" in the wiiflow.ini file under nand, but I only have a wiiflow_lite.ini file and there is no nand heading in that folder. I tried changing nand emulation in the games setting from "default" to off like recommended, but that didn't work either.

In Settings, 1/12 first page. NAND Emulation Settings>Set. Saves NAND Emulation>Off. This fixed Mario Kart Wii for me, otherwise it froze. Just a suggestion if you haven't tried that yet. Good Luck

I'm playing it now, no problems. I'm using WiiFlow on a real Wii with the game stored as 610MB WBFS file on a USB drive formatted to FAT32.

My syscheck: http://syscheck.rc24.xyz/view.php?id=7OPHYB7E

Difference between our syschecks:

Have you verified your dump using WIT? https://wit.wiimm.de/wwt/cmd-verify.html

Have you used ModMii to bring your system hack fully up-to-date?
https://gbatemp.net/threads/modmii-for-windows-official-support-topic.207126/

Are you sure your WiiFlow settings are correct? Black screen on other games, for me, was Force CIOS setting.

Happy to help more, because I really want you to play Excite Truck!

Will test from SD card now.

OK, game doesn’t work from my SD card.

Obvious workaround is to play it from USB. My USB drive is small and neat and I forget it's even plugged in.

But I'll experiment to see if I can find a way for this to work from SD.

Unless you can find somebody with it confirmed working from SD - with some sort of proof - I think this endeavour is a bit of a waste of time. Just play from a little USB drive.

I have my games split across USB and SD and WiiFlow displays them all as one library.

Good luck! Excite Truck is a great game.

I appreciate all the testing Matt! I could definitely scoop up a flash drive if I need to. I wonder why this game has a problem with the SD card? I feel like I read in a old topic about this that it might have something to do with this game using MP3’s for music files and how they load from the SD card.

Yes btw, my dump is verified. But what is Mod Mii? And is there any point in installing that if I can already play all Wii U games, Wii games, GameCube games and N64 games?

https://sourceforge.net/projects/modmii/

ModMii is basically the only Wii-Mod guide any Wii-WiiU owner should use, whether you have your Wii(U) already modded or new to the scene. It is stamped everywhere throughout this forum & been around for a good long while (guessing 6 years). I honestly cannot believe how often I have read the response of "What Is ModMii?" in disbelief, especially on this very forum. If you take the time to Read & Follow all steps, it is Dummy Proof & you will most likely go back to it just to see what you might have missed, or to see what else it can do. My sysCheck looks almost identical to @matt! besides PAL-NTSC & my manufacture date is around 9 months later than hisB-) Im guessing his could have been a launch machine. Alas, if you are happy with your setup & do get Excite Truck working through HDD, there is no reason to change anything. If you want your Wii(U) mod optimized for future unknown, ModMii is the only thing you need my friend. Good Luck.:grog:

There will always be people only just learning of ModMii, and that's a good thing. Better late than never!

That said, I do not think ModMii will help in this instance as my ModMii real Wii can play the game over USB but not SD.

So I think Excite Truck on SD is a dead end personally. Your time would be better spent finding somebody who can play it on SD, rather than trying to figure out why it's not working. Let's just say, yes, it's because the game can play music from SD so whatever device redirection is done by the loader breaks the game. I also tested in CFG USB Loader - works from USB but not SD.

Time would be best spent playing the game from USB!

Here's a video of me playing Excite Truck fairly recently

DON'T use modmii on vWii unless you know exactly what you are doing.
modmii is designed for Wii and never for vWii. If you install stock ios (below 100) recommdended by modmii you will brick your vWii.
Homebrew forwarders not designed for vWii will also brick your vWii.
Other homebrews that does not mess with nands may be ok and ciso above 100 not designed for vWii will probably not brick but won't work either.

I finished hacking my Wii U a while ago. I can already play everything so I don't really see a point in hacking any further regardless. It's not like Nintendo is adding games to Wii U/Wii/GC/N64 at this point.

As for the Excite Truck thing, I don't really believe in dead ends. I've brought up many seemingly impossible issues in the hacking scene from Vita to the Switch and literally 100% of the time someone comes up with a solution. I'm honestly not dying to play the game, it would just be cool to have everything Wii related on one SD card rather than having another thing sticking out of the Wii U.

I'm kind of new to the Wii U, one partially modded and one that needs to be modded.

With the Wii U isn't the d2x version that needs to be used suppose to be the ALT version? Either the v10beta52-alt or v10beata 53-alt?

wow I'm having this exact issue after I installed emunand to play WiiWare games ever since then Excite Truck simply hangs on a black screen I tried everything from changing the USB Loader GX versions to another, changing SD Cards, formatting SD Cards and yet nothing, however the game does work on other loaders (WiiFlow, CFG Loader..) but USB Loader GX is literally my go to program so do I need to format my Wii to get this thing working again or nah ?
